C30 – Kissed

The man’s low invitation, as if it contained some kind of magic, made him feel that the most beautiful sound in the world wasn’t as good as it.

Xiao Yu blushed a little; in fact, he was just saying that; he never thought that Cang Hai would agree to him.

“I said it casually; don’t take it seriously.”

Xiao Yu was just explaining when suddenly his body became lighter, and he was carried by Cang Hai.

He subconsciously grabbed Cang Hai’s shoulders with both hands, his tail tightly wrapped around Cang Hai’s strong and thin waist, and he looked at the man in front of him without knowing what to do.

His mouth held a hint of a smile, and although his gray pupils were unfocused, he could tell that Cang Hai’s eyes were particularly serious at the moment—only that they weren’t aimed at his face.

Xiao Yu didn’t know where he got the courage to hold Cang Hai’s chin with both hands, then he slightly adjusted the angle of Cang Hai’s neck so that he was at eye level with him.

“The little scoundrel with a split heart.” Cang Hai laughed and scolded, his slightly calloused fingers sliding along the back of Xiao Yu’s hand that was in contact with his to Xiao Yu’s arm, and then along his collarbone to the knot of his throat.

[TN: split heart — says one thing but does something else]

Xiao Yu couldn’t help but gulp.

Cang Hai’s fingers caressed Xiao Yu’s throat knot. “What are you nervous about?”

Xiao Yu was still stiff. “Where am I nervous? I’m just, just…”

He couldn’t speak.

Because Cang Hai had already found the position of his lips and was slowly approaching him.

Closer and closer.

A warm breath sprayed on his neck, as if it were burning it. Xiao Yu felt as if he had returned to a high fever period, and his ears were burning uncontrollably.

The bad-hearted Cang Hai hesitated to kiss him, preferring to sniff him at such a close distance, rubbing the tip of his nose and the bridge of his nose with his forehead.

Just when Xiao Yu couldn’t bear it anymore.

The long-awaited kiss finally fell; four lips met; the warm and soft touch swept away all the dissatisfaction in his heart.

Time seemed to be endlessly stretched—what destruction of the desolate star, what threat of death—all were put aside.

He only knew that his beloved was kissing him, and what could be more pleasurable than that?

Xiao Yu’s heart was beating like a drum, his chest bulging with an emotion called contentment, and he didn’t dare to breathe for fear of accidentally interrupting his long-awaited intimacy.

Even though he was very reluctant to part with this kiss, it still ended.

A strong regret rose from the bottom of his heart—if only this kiss could have lasted a little longer.

Cang Hai pursed his lips and seemed to be reminiscing about what he had just tasted.

Xiao Yu lay on Cang Hai’s shoulder and was even more at a loss as to what to say.

“Your ears are so hot; is it a fever?” Cang Hai asked softly, “Or are you shy?”

Xiao Yu buried his head into the nest of Cang Hai’s neck. Da*mn Cang Hai, what’s the point of saying it? Can’t you leave me some dignity?

Cang Hai didn’t get an answer but he wasn’t angry; he kissed the tip of Xiao Yu’s warm ear and said, “I’m kind of regretting giving you an inhibitor too early.”

Otherwise, paired with the intoxicating pheromones, this kiss must have been even more fragrant and intense than it was.

However, come what may, he liked this gradual feeling.

Xiao Yu was in a daze for a long time before he realized that Cang Hai had brought him to the edge of a huge crack.

“Be careful; next to this is the crack; fall down, and we both die,” he hurriedly reminded Cang Hai. “We’re not so far gone as to go to the point of martyrdom, are we?”

Cang Hai was taken aback. “What martyrdom! I’m just trying to find out if there are any spatial cracks in the vicinity. Think about it: the energy generated by an earthquake is so powerful that such deep cracks can form.”

Xiao Yu realized that the more energy residue there was, the more likely a spatial rift would appear.

For example, when they were looking for spatial cracks on the seashore before, it was because the tides brought the energy of the sea to the shore, and where the land and water met, the exchange of heat was also very frequent, so the possibility of spatial cracks appearing was also greater.

The two had the same thought.

“Then do you see something?” Xiao Yu asked curiously.

Cang Hai leaned down and gathered some dust to sniff it, and sure enough, he smelled the faint scent of a plant.

This kind of plant wasn’t terrestrial, as the continent of the Desolate Star didn’t have the conditions needed for plants to grow, so it could only possibly come from the ocean.

It was strange then; how could the scent of a plant from the ocean be left on the soil inland?

Was it an accident brought on by the rain, or was it… hard evidence of undersea creatures crawling onto the land?

Cang Hai suddenly brought up something: “I remember you asking me how you could turn your tail into legs?”

Why did he suddenly bring it up?

Xiao Yu replied with slight suspicion, “Yes, I think it is more convenient to walk if I have legs.”

“As I recall, the tails of adult people can be switched between legs and tails.” Cang Hai said thoughtfully, “But exactly how to do that is the secret of mermaids; I don’t know.”

Xiao Yu was stunned after finding out that his fish tail could change into legs. There was such a good thing?

It was a pity that Cang Hai didn’t know the method of changing legs; otherwise, he could walk on his own without relying on Cang Hai to carry him.

Seemingly sensing the little mermaid’s frustration, Cang Hai touched his head and said, “There will always be a way; I will accompany you to find it.”

Xiao Yu’s eyes instantly lit up, and he smiled.

“Actually, there is no harm in not being able to find it.” He rubbed his cheek against Cang Hai’s palm. “I don’t have to walk; I can just rely on you every day.”

“You can rely on me just as much with legs; I don’t mind.”

“Then I have to remind you that legs aren’t as good as a tail for coiling; you have to help me hold my legs and also save energy.”

“Fine, fine, Master Xiao.”

As he spoke, Cang Hai took his tent out of his spatial ring again and set up camp in place.

Xiao Yu helped him while asking uncertainly, “What are we doing here?”

Cang Hai debugged the temperature control system inside the tent: “This gully is the largest rift valley in the vicinity, and it is also the most likely place to generate a spatial rift. Instead of wandering around aimlessly, it would be better to wait for a few days to observe here first.”

Hearing Cang Hai say this, Xiao Yu understood: “What is your plan?”

“The fact that the spatial rift hasn’t yet been created is nothing more than the energy of the earthquake not being strong enough. That’s why I’m planning to think of a way to attract some of the migrating foreign beasts and make them fight each other. Perhaps the commotion they cause, coupled with the natural disasters that might occur afterwards, might be able to create a spatial rift here as well.” Cang Hai told Xiao Yu his plan in detail.

Xiao Yu was slightly uneasy. “Will it be dangerous?”

Cang Hai hung a glowing star trinket on the top of the tent and twirled it.

The faint light swayed as the star shook.

“Any attempt will be dangerous,” Cang Hai said at the right time. “I can only assure you that I will do my best to protect my own life.”

Xiao Yu pursed his thin lips; he knew that what Cang Hai was doing was something that had to be done in order for them to be able to escape the Desolate Star.

However, he still couldn’t hide his worry and would even ostrich-like think that the hope of surviving was slim anyway, so it would be better to cherish this remaining time.

[TN: when an ostrich senses danger and cannot run away, it will flop to the ground and remain still, attempting to blend in with the terrain.]

But he was equally clear that Cang Hai wasn’t a person who gave up lightly; he was like an upright mountain at all times, bringing a strong sense of security to those around him.

This was also one of the reasons why he liked Cang Hai, right?

Xiao Yu, who was still uneasy in his heart, turned his gaze to the shining star ornament in order to relieve the pressure.

“We lived in the tent for so long before; how come you didn’t take it out?” Xiao Yu asked.

“When I was training in the past, my instructor told me a saying,” Cang Hai said in a serious manner: “If you want your companions to be strong, you have to learn to control your own emotions, give care when necessary, and treat them with indifference when it’s not necessary.”

Xiao Yu heard this for the first time, and he carefully memorized every word and sentence.

However, treating them with indifference?

When had Cang Hai ever treated him indifferently? Apart from the very beginning, when Cang Hai thought he was an attacker and moved against him, he had never scolded him after that.

On the contrary, he had been relying on Cang Hai to survive, and he wasn’t a qualified companion at all.

So he asked Cang Hai what was going on.

Canghai froze. “Wasn’t I indifferent enough to you before?” He even let the small mermaid, who was still a minor, brush the pots and wash the dishes, and for the food that he caught and hunted, he also let Xiao Yu handle it cleanly.

Of course, these were indeed tough for him, who was blind.

But it wasn’t to the extent that he couldn’t do it.

Xiao Yu was dumbfounded. If that was called indifference before, “Then what is your so-called care?”

Cang Hai thought for a moment and handed Xiao Yu a card.

“What is this?” Xiao Yu flipped the card over and over.

The exterior was pitch black without any highlights, and what was even stranger was that there wasn’t a single word on it, making it impossible to see what it actually was.

Cang Hai introduced, “This is a black card with interstellar circulating credits; my entire fortune is in it.”

So this was the bank card of the interstellar era.

With Cang Hai’s ability, the credits here would never be small.

The black card, which looked plain and ordinary, instantly became low-key and luxurious, and he even felt it glittering and shining under the illumination of the star-adorned lamp.

After admiring the black card, he returned it to Cang Hai.

Cang Hai, however, didn’t want it. “Keep it.”

“Huh?” Xiao Yu was confused.

“I’ll give it to you.” Cang Hai said it lightly.

Xiao Yu counted; he had only said a total of two sentences before he got the black card.

So in two sentences, he made Cang Hai willingly give him the black card.

Those gossip blog accounts couldn’t even pull something like this off, right?
