C17 – Fried Scorpion Meat

Xiao Yu, who was rushing in Cang Hai’s direction, suddenly experienced a strong palpitation.

Just like when he was attacked by the Blackbeard Octopus, he inexplicably felt a huge crisis, and there was no time to hesitate before his body reacted.

Xiao Yu’s response couldn’t be said to be fast, and as soon as he sensed something strange, he rolled to avoid it.

However, the scorpion tail of the Red Sand Scorpion was even faster, from the time the Red Sand Scorpion appeared and when it launched the attack, only took a few seconds, if Xiao Yu hadn’t sensed the danger in advance, this hideous scorpion tail might have pierced through his heart.

A burning pain came from his right arm, the scorpion tail still scratched him, and then disappeared into the sand, along with the Red Sand Scorpion’s body.

It was too fast!

Xiao Yu covered his wound, still shocked.

If he hadn’t dodged quickly, he would have been a corpse by now.

Cang Hai, who had rushed over at the sound, finally realized what he had overlooked, the Red Sand Scorpion was a very special beast, and each female scorpion must lay an even number of eggs.

During the development of the eggs, there would be a combination of two and two, and a marvelous fusion would occur between the two eggs.

Once the fusion was successful, the Red Sand Scorpion would be able to break out of its shell, and one of the two eggs would develop into the body of the Red Sand Scorpion, while the other would be fused into its shadow, helping the body to better conceal its form.

This was a marvelous symbiotic relationship. Both the Scorpion and the Shadow had their own consciousness, the Scorpion maintained its life and the Shadow’s life, while the Shadow assisted the Scorpion in hunting, helping it to survive in the cruel environment.

Once the body died, the shadow would inherit everything from the body and become a Red Sand Scorpion without a shadow.

Cang Hai couldn’t be blamed for not remembering the characteristics of the Red Sand Scorpion for a moment, this kind of foreign beast that wandered in the fringes and had a high level of concealment skills wasn’t commonly known by humans.

Cang Hai quickly rushed to Xiao Yu’s side: “How are you?”

Xiao Yu was afraid that Cang Hai would be distracted, so he pretended to be relaxed, “Fortunately, I dodged.”

The smell of blood in the air however betrayed him, Cang Hai wrinkled his eyebrows, dissatisfied with Xiao Yu’s concealment, “The Red Sand Scorpion is highly poisonous, don’t think that it’s fine if it didn’t injure the vitals, it’ll be too late if you wait for the poisonous blood to attack your heart.”

Cang Hai rarely spoke to him in such a harsh tone, he was a bit stunned for a moment, but it quickly transformed into elation.

He fooled himself into thinking that Cang Hai cared about him.

“My right arm was scratched by a scorpion tail.” Xiao Yu didn’t lie this time.

Cang Hai pursed his lips and turned on the healing instrument to treat Xiao Yu.

The wound was warm.

Xiao Yu didn’t dare to take it lightly as he looked around, fearing that the Red Sand Scorpion that Cang Hai had spoken of would suddenly leap out while he was healing his wounds and give him a fatal blow.

Only after confirming that there was no danger around him did Xiao Yu dare to chat with Cang Hai, “What kind of foreign beast is the Red Sand Scorpion, and how did it suddenly emerge from behind me?”

Cang Hai told Xiao Yu everything he knew.

It caused Xiao Yu to gasp in amazement, not realizing that there were such peculiar foreign beasts, it was really an eye-opener.

It was probably the death of the principal body that made the shadow realize how powerful Cang Hai was.

In other words, if it wasn’t for the death of the principal body, the shadow would always be just a shadow and would only be able to look up to the Red Sand Scorpion’s principal body to survive in the backlight. The shadow that had lost its main body had gained true freedom even though its combat power had been halved.

In a sense, Cang Hai was still its benefactor.

The wound closed and healed at a speed visible to the naked eye, Xiao Yu climbed back onto Cang Hai’s back and followed him to inspect the loot.

The road conditions were very bad, and the soil affected by the Red Sand Scorpion was still in a state of quicksand.

Xiao Yu asked Cang Hai why the quicksand still persisted when the Red Sand Scorpions had clearly all died in battle.

Cang Hai pondered for a moment, “It has paassed, but this is evidence that it once existed.”

Xiao Yu let out a wow: “How philosophical!”

Only the answer was just that.

Xiao Yu very thoughtfully didn’t dismantle Cang Hai, even if he didn’t know the answer to this question, it didn’t affect his perfect image in his heart in any way.

After death, the Red Sand Scorpion was a little less ferocious, and its scale armor had lost its luster, and its original earth-yellow protective color had returned to the original gray color of its armor.

A pair of scorpion pincers full of barbs, the size of which was no better than the sand crab pincers.

“The scorpion pincers may look bulky, but its streamlined construction, coupled with its flat head, allows the Red Sand Scorpion to move across the ground without hindrance. They create quicksand by hollowing out the soil, making quicksand traps to catch their prey. In contrast, their scorpion tails are slightly inferior, and aside from carrying toxins, they are not worth mentioning in terms of speed or killing power.” Cang Hai saw fit to give Xiao Yu a lesson.

Xiao Yu listened attentively but the corners of his mouth couldn’t help but twitch when he heard the end.

He was the one who was stung by the worthless scorpion tail, so to put it this way, was he even more ‘worthless’?

Angry, he wanted to cut ties with Cang Hai.

Cang Hai chopped off the scorpion tail of the Red Sand Demon Scorpion with a single move, there was no meat in its tail, and the scorpion tail also hid toxins, making it very troublesome to dispose of, so it was more trouble than it was worth.

The rest of the parts he put into the spatial ring: “The Red Sand Scorpion loves to live underground, but its meat doesn’t have any sand in it at all, the scorpion meat is most suitable for deep-frying, when the skin is fried until it is golden brown, the unique flavor of the scorpion meat will be pushed to the peak by the high temperature and hot oil. It just so happens that I have refined the meat that I couldn’t finish into oil, want to try the Deep Fried Red Sand Scorpion?”

Xiao Yu didn’t hesitate, “Of course!”

He unilaterally declared that his anger had lifted!

Who could resist the temptation of food?

He couldn’t help it anyway.

Cang Hai still had to hold his appetite, “The wind and sand are too strong here, it’s not appropriate to start cooking. Be a good boy, wait until meal time and I’ll make it for you.”

Although Xiao Yu had a craving, he knew what was more important, and the desire of the mouth and stomach wasn’t more important than the life of the family.

So he looked forward to the meal until it was time, and pressed against Cang Hai’s ear and said happily, “It’s time to eat!”

Cang Hai didn’t go back on his word, since he promised the little mermaid, he had no intention of letting him off the hook.

After leading Xiao Yu to retreat away from the area of influence of the sandstorm, he set up a pot and poured in the meat oil that he had simmered.

The oil was extracted from the fat and tender Blackbeard Octopus tentacles, the oil itself had enough fresh flavor, and the flesh of the Blackbeard Octopus was rare and fat and tender, so the oil boiled out was naturally of superior quality.

As the temperature of the oil continues to rise, the rich fresh flavor was extracted, just breathing could make people’s mouth and tongue water.

When the flavor of the seasoning was completely absorbed by the hot oil, Cang Hai cut the most delicious pincer meat on the Red Sand Scorpion into numerous small pieces and put it into the pot for frying.

In an instant, oil stars splashed everywhere, but fortunately, Cang Hai was prepared and covered the pot.

The reaction inside the pot was quite violent, and the rolling oil aroma followed the cracks of the lid and drilled into people’s nostrils.

The scorpion meat floated in the oil pot, with a golden coat gradually appearing on the surface. The skin was shiny, and just looking at it could make one’s fingers move.

The first pot of fried scorpion meat was finally removed from the pot, the freshly pulled out pieces of meat were still bubbling with oil, he couldn’t wait to grab a piece and put it in his mouth, not willing to spit it out even though his tongue was tingling from the heat.

The fried scorpion meat was really as Cang Hai said, the outside was charred and the inside was tender, delicious to the point of bursting.

What was even more worth celebrating was that he had one more thing to snack on, fried snacks were juicier than air-dried snacks, and because the surface was covered in grease, the shelf life of fried scorpion meat was much longer than any other food.

It was only until he could no longer eat any more that Xiao Yu was able to put down the fried meat in his hands

For some reason, his eyes were blurred, and even Cang Hai had turned into heavy shadows.

His head was so dizzy.

Xiao Yu couldn’t hold on any longer, his eyes closed and he fell softly into Cang Hai’s arms.
