C36 —- Superiority

Being overturned violently, the octopus doll seemed to be a little angry, shrinking its seven tentacles into a ball, but like a cat’s hand in the bottom of the backpack, it stayed as peaceful as a real doll.

Mu Sichen touched his healed arm, and his sight fell on the octopus doll that lost a tentacle.

It didn’t matter how Qin Zu acted. The octopus doll had human nature because of him, and it lost a tentacle just to help him. Mu Sichen felt both grateful and sad.

He didn’t know if the little octopus’s tentacle could be recovered. Mu Sichen thought somewhat despondently.

Thanks to the help of the octopus doll, Mu Sichen’s condition instantly improved.

He put on his backpack and walked all the way in the direction of the farming area.

They had traveled to the Energy Zone on their own, without anyone to guide them, and relied on the guards to point them in the right direction.

At that time, the gatekeeper told them that the east side was the energy area, the west side was the assembly area, the north side was the farming area, and the south side was the gate.

Mu Sichen walked all the way to the north, and on the way, he met a man with a satisfied expression, and from the color of his badge, this man was also an employee of the energy area.

Mu Sichen called out to him, as if casually: “Brother, I’m new here; you look so happy; what’s so fun over there?”

“Hehe hehe, it’s a virtual experience hall, the kind that makes people particularly happy.” The man showed a look of “knowing everything.”.

“What’s the point of a virtual one?” Mu Sichen sneered disdainfully.

“If it looks real and feels real, just consider it real,” the man said. “This is a service that only employees in our energy zone can enjoy. Those low-level employees in the assembly and farming areas probably won’t know how happy it is in their lifetime.”

He smiled proudly. “I’m tired; I’m going back to my room to rest. You have fun~”

Mu Sichen walked in the direction he came from for about five minutes and saw a shop with a blush-inducing poster outside. On the plaque, in addition to “Virtual Experience Hall,”  there was also a line of small letters that read, “Regardless of the gender, this shop can satisfy your needs and give you the ultimate experience that surpasses the real thing!”

During his high school years, Mu Sichen focused on studying and avoided early romantic relationships in order to get into a good university. Shortly after graduating from high school, his parents passed away unexpectedly. Since then, he has been working hard for life and has had no mood or conditions to fall in love. Although he looked mature, he was still a very innocent student at heart.

Seeing the introduction of the experience hall, Mu Sichen’s face involuntarily reddened, and he ran around the gate.

As he passed by, Mu Sichen saw a few people, who were obviously followers, walking out cheerfully.

In addition to the senior staff, it turned out that the followers could also enjoy these recreational facilities.

Mu Sichen walked forward at a fast pace, and after about twenty minutes or so, he finally arrived in front of a part of an electric grid.

The electric grid was more than ten meters high, and from time to time, there were flying insects that landed on it and were instantly struck by the high-voltage electricity and turned into flying dust.

There was also a notice on the grid that said, “Farming is a low-level area; higher-level staff should not enter.”.

Through the power grid, Mu Sichen saw a large farmland from afar, and there seemed to be some cowsheds and goatsheds.

It turned out that the farming area was a real farming area; they even planted fields and vegetables to raise livestock, and the food they ate was all real food.

This shocked Mu Sichen a little.

He had always thought that the bread he had eaten before was something that the Big Eye had changed with some weird ability.

This discovery made Mu Sichen’s thoughts a little confused. After all, in his perception, in the pillars of the evil god’s domain, it sounded a little unbelievable that the townspeople would be organized to farm the land.

“Get out of the way, get out of the way!” A voice came: “Can’t you see the notice posted on the grid? Higher employees, stay away from the lower regions; don’t degrade yourself!”

A follower in an overseer’s uniform approached.

The power grid was so tightly defended that there were even followers guarding it.

Mu Sichen looked around and saw that there was a small house not far from the power grid, probably where the guarding follower lived.

“I just came to take a look,” Mu Sichen said.

“What’s there to see? They’re just a bunch of low-level employees used for consumption.” The attitude of the follower was extremely contemptuous, and this contempt wasn’t only towards the low-level employees but also towards Mu Sichen.

Mu Sichen observed his expression and took another step forward.

The guard instantly pulled out a nine-section whip with many eyes set in it from his waist and gave it a hard whip, hitting the middle of the grid.

“It’s because of you disobedient senior employees that I have to be on duty here for three hours every day. With the recent two-hour extension of ‘Night’, my work time has become three and a half hours, so I have to do an extra half hour, really!” The guard said it angrily.

Mu Sichen silently did some calculations and asked, “Is it four people working shifts?”

“Yes, and what’s it to you? Hurry up and get lost! Stay here for more than 10 minutes, and I’ll have the right to demote you to the assembly area.” The guard yelled.

Mu Sichen didn’t antagonize the guard and apologized with an excellent attitude before leaving the grid.

The guard smugly straightened his collar and whistled as he returned to the small house, a sense of superiority in his expression.

Mu Sichen looked at his back from afar for a while, smiled knowingly, and returned to his room.

Not a moment later, Chi Lian came back; her expression was extremely bad, a look of wanting to tear someone alive. Seeing Mu Sichen, she yelled without image, “Pissed off, pissed off, pissed off, pissed off!”

Mu Sichen smiled, not waiting for her to let loose with a loud curse. He guessed, “Angered by the attitude of the followers, right?”

“You know this too?” Chi Lian said, “You’ve also encountered that kind of condescending follower, right? Oh my god, you don’t even know how they talked to me; their nostrils were about to turn up to the sky!”

Cheng Xubo came back at this moment; his expression didn’t look good either, but he wasn’t as angry as Chi Lian.

Chi Lian kept talking. “I walked to the gate and asked the guard if I could go home early since I had finished my work. He said, “Pariahs are pariahs; you won’t even enjoy the best recreational facilities you are given.”

“My God, I have never heard anyone use the word ‘pariah’ except in a TV show; who is he?”

“Also, all I did was talk to him through the janitor’s window, and you know what he did? He wiped the glass! It’s as if my sight had soiled his glass!”

“You were also looked down upon by the followers?” Cheng Xubo picked up, “It was the same for me!”

Cheng Xubo told the two that he walked all the way west to the vicinity of the assembly area.

The assembly area wasn’t like the farming area, where it had to be blocked off with an electric grid, but there was a glass wall.

This side of the wall was the energy area, and the other side was the assembly area, and the workers in the assembly area were able to see their side.

Cheng Xubo saw that the work in the assembly area didn’t seem particularly tiring; the machines were fully automated; they just needed to put the ears of wheat into the machine, and what fell out was the bread. He didn’t know how the machines did it, as one machine could complete so many processes.

The workers in the assembly area only needed to push away the automatically loaded food and bring it to the designated place, where it would be taken away by the followers to be uniformly distributed to the townspeople.

Cheng Xubo, as a programmer, was interested in that fully automatic machine. He just took two steps closer to the glass wall and was beaten by the follower standing guard.

Yes, Cheng Xubo wasn’t treated as well as Chi Lian; he was directly whipped.

The follower said that he had the power to demote Cheng Xubo, so Cheng Xubo didn’t dare to lose his temper and came back stoically.

“I’m so useless; I didn’t get anything, and I was bullied.” Chi Lian huffed.

“Me too.” Cheng Xubo also sighed.

“Who said nothing was gotten?” Mu Sichen said calmly, “After everyone’s snooping around, I’ve already mapped out the situation here.”

Their eyes lit up, and they seriously looked at Mu Sichen.

Mu Sichen said, “I found that the people here are filled with a strong sense of superiority. The followers are against the senior employees, the senior employees are against the mid-level employees, and the mid-level employees are against the low-level employees, forming a pyramid of contempt.”

“What’s the point of knowing this?” Chi Lian asked.

Mu Sichen said, “Don’t forget what the ‘Pillar’ needs.”

“Despair?” Cheng Xubo asked.

Mu Sichen shook his head.

If he didn’t have a pillar under his control, he might have had a preconceived notion that the processing plant’s pillar needed despair as well.

However, Mu Sichen had taken control of the pillar of the sanatorium, and the system prompted him to find emotional support for the pillar. This proved that the “pillar” needed a different emotional support.

Inside the sanatorium, there was a lingering despair that couldn’t be escaped, but inside the processing plant, there was a strong sense of superiority.

The emotional energy that this “pillar” needed wasn’t despair but the omnipresent feeling of superiority.

“The place with the strongest sense of superiority is the energy zone, so ths ‘pillar’ is in the energy zone? Did Shen Jiyue deceive us?” Chi Lian was heartbroken. “Can a man who looks so beautiful also deceive people?”

Mu Sichen said, “That’s not true. Shen Jiyue did hide some things from us, but he didn’t lie about the location of the ‘pillar’.”

“It’s not that the more people with superiority complexes there are, that’s where the ‘pillar’ is located. Rather, the ‘pillar’ is wherever the superiority complex of the entire processing plant is projected.”

“That would be the farming area, and it’s true that everyone looks down on the farming area.” Cheng Xubo said, “Then what did Shen Jiyue hide from us?”

Mu Sichen said, “Senior employees can be lowered to the assembly area in advance; it is impossible for Shen Jiyue not to know about this matter, but he hid it from us. Not only that, he deliberately led us to believe that we had to stay in the energy zone for dozens of days before we could go to the assembly zone.”

“In reality, the followers’ sense of superiority over senior employees comes precisely from the fact that they can punish senior employees who break the rules.”

“If we break the rules, the followers are able to force us to continuously press the button on the energy bay, deprive us of our holidays, and beat us straight into the assembly area.”

“Why did Shen Jiyue hide this information?” Chi Lian asked in puzzlement.

Mu Sichen shook his head and said, “I haven’t figured it out yet. But since we’re in a competitive relationship now, it’s quite normal for him to conceal something to prevent us from discovering a way to it.”

Just what benefit did concealing this have for Shen Jiyue? Was it related to the “pillar”? And could they find a way to approach the “pillar” in advance from this point?

Mu Sichen fell into deep thought.

Right at this moment, the system, which had been silent all along, suddenly issued a prompt.

[Unfortunately, the player has lost a potential believer.]

What was the system saying? Mu Sichen was slightly stunned.

Where did he have any potential believer?

The system continued to emit a voice prompt: [Recycling self-stickers is in progress; please check the player’s backpack.]

Mu Sichen opened the system panel, rummaged through his backpack, and really found a self-sticker.

The patterns on the stickers were blurred and couldn’t be seen at all.

Mu Sichen had only made three of these self-stickers with unreadable patterns: one for himself, one for Chi Lian, and the last one for the player in the square who was so scared by the Feathered Eyed Dependent that he couldn’t stop crying.

Lost …… Was he dead?

Mu Sichen’s mood became heavy all of a sudden.

At that time, he was only a level 1 player who knew nothing about Tongzhi town and had exhausted his energy without any ability to defend himself.

He couldn’t give anyone a promise; he could only tell the three about the situation in Tongzhi Town and let them make their own choices.

Chi Lian and Cheng Xubo chose to follow him to the sanatorium, and the three of them worked side by side to support each other and find a way out of the game.

But the weeping player, who had no idea where he had gone, stuck it out alone for three days and died so lightly.

Mu Sichen took out the self-sticker from his backpack and felt extremely sad.

Sad for his own powerlessness.

As he looked at the self-sticker, his left eye suddenly ached, and a bright red mist filled the eye.

Mu Sichen quickly closed his other eye.

An image appeared in front of his left eye again, and what appeared was actually the self-sticker.

When he held the sticker, he could see everything that the sticker had experienced.
