C43 —— Boxing Trainer

Cheng Hao was very insistent, so Shi Wenzheng took Cheng Hao’s money and said he would use it all to buy books.

For a foreign student like him, the country’s funding was still sufficient, but Cheng Hao was too generous and gave him a large sum of money, about two to three thousand dollars.

Shi Wenzheng had never received so much money at one time.

He almost thought Cheng Hao was a rich kid from Hong Kong, but looking at Cheng Hao, he didn’t look like that, and Cheng Hao also said that his younger brother wanted to borrow books …….

Shi Wenzheng was a bit confused about Cheng Hao’s situation.

“You don’t have to buy books, you can totally use the money to improve your life.” Cheng Hao said, “As for my younger brother, he loves to study and wants to go to university, if possible, I hope you can correspond with him and teach him something.”

Cheng Hao didn’t want to bother Shi Wenzheng too much, but it was still possible for Shi Wenzheng to lend books to Lin Yuxun, and to correspond with him, which would also allow Lin Yuxun to learn more.

Cheng Hao knew that he was very knowledgeable in some aspects, for example, he knew what the world would be like forty years later.

But there were also some aspects that he didn’t understand at all.

For example, he didn’t know how to go to college in America.

He knew that the United States was different from China in that it didn’t rely on the entrance exam to admit students, and that they had to apply on their own, and that they had to have letters of recommendation and so on, but he didn’t have any idea of what it was like.

Because there was no computer now, he had no channel to acquire such knowledge.

In such a situation, having Lin Yuxun correspond with a college student could definitely help him learn a lot more.

Cheng Hao spoke sincerely, and Shi Wenzheng agreed.

As Shi Wenzheng rushed back to school, Cheng Hao and the others were also going back.

Carrying large bags and many things, they boarded the bus.

It wasn’t rush hour at this moment, there weren’t many people on the bus and there were seats, so they sat down in the last row.

After sitting down, Claude held his new clothes in his arms and started to touch the glasses on his nose from time to time.

After Cheng Hao bought him the sunglasses, he never took them off, even in the dimly lit bookstore, he insisted on wearing them.

Cheng Hao himself would never do something that might make others think he was blind and stupid, but he didn’t stop Claude.

Claude should like and enjoy these glasses, so let him wear them.

After having these glasses, Claude really saved a lot of trouble, he didn’t say a word and didn’t make a fuss when he was chatting with Shi Wenzheng before.

As Cheng Hao was thinking this, he saw Claude start to use the car window as a mirror, looking for his own reflection on it.

He didn’t bother with Claude and turned his head to talk to Lin Yuxun, “Yuxun, I haven’t been to college, I don’t know how to apply for college and how to go to …… college, but Shi Wenzheng surely knows about it, you can ask him.”

After thinking about it, he added, “In the future, if you have a book you want, you can also ask him to buy it for you and send it over, or you can even ask him to recommend some books to you.”

With the poor flow of information these days and the bad environment they were in, Lin Yuxun had no way of knowing which books were good and which were not ……

After thinking about it this way, Cheng Hao felt more and more that it was a good idea to have Lin Yuxun and Shi Wenzheng correspond.

Lin Yuxun nodded seriously.

Previously, he was a bit unhappy when Cheng Hao was chatting happily with Shi Wenzheng.

He hoped from the bottom of his heart that the person Cheng Hao paid the most attention to was him.

But then, after Cheng Hao gave Shi Wenzheng money, he pulled him over and asked Shi Wenzheng to lend him books to read, and his little bit of unhappiness immediately dissipated.

When Cheng Hao won the money, he was thinking of letting him go to school, and when Cheng Hao gave money to others, he also hoped that he could get a little benefit from it.

Lin Yuxun had already decided that he would make good use of the path Cheng Hao had helped him pave.

He would also correspond well with Shi Wenzheng …… He didn’t want Cheng Hao to contact Shi Wenzheng, in that case, he would contact Shi Wenzheng more often!

After thinking this way, Lin Yuxun’s gaze fell on Claude again.

Cheng Hao was also very nice to Claude, spending a lot of time on Claude …… Against Claude’s silly smile, Lin Yuxun’s guard that had risen for some reason suddenly disappeared.

When they returned to the hotel, it was already five in the afternoon, and Old George was still not back.

However, Old George came back very quickly, and as soon as he did, he said to Cheng Hao and the others, “You guys get in the car and follow me out!”

Cheng Hao and the others all got into the car, then Old George stepped on the gas and drove them out of the hotel.

Old George brought them to a very lively restaurant and stopped the car in front.

“Old George, we’re going to have dinner here?” Cheng Hao asked with some surprise, this restaurant looked very upscale at first glance, and he was afraid that eating here would cost quite a bit of money.

After all, he and Claude could eat a lot.

“Don’t even think about it!” Old George said, “I brought you here because I want you to meet a boxing trainer.”

A boxing trainer was equivalent to a boxing coach, and Cheng Hao had been exposed to a lot of them in his past life, to the point that when he retired, he was originally going to become a boxing coach ……

“He’s eating inside?” Cheng Hao asked, then quickly realized that it wasn’t.

Old George led them around to the back of the restaurant.

It was a very nice, very upscale restaurant, but it was still dirty in the back and had several slop buckets sitting around.

Luckily, it was supposed to be cleaned up every day and thus didn’t smell bad.

They found a staircase at the back of the house.

The stairwell was not equipped with electric lights, so they walked up two flights in the dark to the third floor and opened a door to a large boxing gym.

The windows on one side of this boxing gym were boarded up with posters of some boxing stars, while the windows on the other side were open and a very fat white man was smoking by the window.

There were also some people training, and these included not-so-young children as well as adults.

“Gibbs, I’m here.” George Sr. said to the older white man by the window.

The white man turned his head, “George, you’re late!”

“I’ve got quite a few things going on, you know.” George Sr. said, Cheng Hao noticed that the not-so-tempered George Sr. was gentle when facing the not-so-young Mr. Gibbs.

Gibbs and George Sr. chatted, and they began by talking about how each of them was doing.

Old George complained about the bar patrons always causing trouble, Gibbs then complained about the fumes from the restaurant downstairs that kept him from opening one side of the window ……

After chatting, Gibbs’ eyes fell on Cheng Hao, “His game yesterday, I saw it, he’s really a good kid.”

“That’s for sure!” Old George was a bit smug.

“A kid like that, if you want him to have a better future, then you should have him train with a boxing trainer.” Gibbs said, “George Sr, you’re a great manager, but you’re not a good boxing trainer, you’re too cranky!”

George Sr. fell silent.

Gibbs said, “I can’t teach him anything for only a day or two of work, you should drop him here and let him train with me …… You know, I can always train someone well.”

Old George’s brow furrowed, “That won’t work.”

Cheng Hao also said, “I want to be with my family …… Moreover, I don’t need to be trained.”

“Are you sure?” Gibbs looked at Cheng Hao, “Little guy, you’re still too young to understand what a good boxing trainer means to you.”

In fact, Cheng Hao knew better than anyone else what a good boxing trainer represented.

A good boxing trainer would not only train the boxer’s physical body to make him strong, but would also pay attention to the boxer’s mind to make him have a strong heart.

However, all of this he already had.

Cheng Hao said, “I’ve studied boxing before, I know what to do.”

Gibbs didn’t quite like Cheng Hao’s arrogance, “Do you know what is your opponent’s weakness when you fight him? Do you know how to power up better? Do you know how to make those difficult moves?”

Gibbs asked several questions in one breath.

Cheng Hao knew all of them.

The Chinese …… were very good at summarizing.

Although not many people engaged in boxing because the country didn’t attach much importance to it and people didn’t like to play this kind of dangerous sport, there was a set of standards in the country on how a boxer should be trained.

Cheng Hao silently walked over to the children who were training and began to instruct them in boxing.

He used to instruct those new kids on the boxing team and was very good at doing this.

“You should power up like this ……”

“Don’t be discouraged, you can’t fight well not because you’re not good at boxing, but because your movements aren’t standardized enough.”

“Focus, training doesn’t have to be long, but it has to be focused.”

“You’re learning Ali’s slide and butterfly steps? I can show you how!”

……

Cheng Hao admitted that he was a bit of a good teacher.

After all, he was all retired and planning to become a teacher ……

So Cheng Hao, who had run to coach those kids at the beginning to let Gibbs know that he didn’t need a coach, ended up getting more and more motivated to teach those kids more and more.

George Sr: “……”

Gibbs all but froze, “George, are you sure he’s a boxer and not a boxing coach?”

“He is indeed a boxer.” George Sr. said.

Gibbs said, “Why do I think …… he’s more professional than me?”

George Sr. actually didn’t understand why Cheng Hao was so professional.

However, it was a good thing.

Cheng Hao was always so outstanding and would never let him down.

Old George felt that he was lucky, really lucky.

Just as he was thinking this, Old George saw Claude next to him.

It was already nighttime, and although the lights were on in the training ground, it was still very dark, and on the contrary, Claude was wearing sunglasses.

In addition to the sunglasses, he also wore a hot outfit ……

“Old George, do I look good?” Noticing Old George looking at him, Claude asked gleefully.

Old George turned his own head back and felt that he really thought too much, his luck wasn’t too good.

Cheng Hao knew all sorts of things about boxing like the back of his hand, even more than Gibbs.

That was a given, he had learned a lot in the age of the information explosion forty years later, Gibbs was a different story, he might be a good boxing trainer, but in an age where a lot of people still hid their training methods from others, he certainly didn’t know as much as Cheng Hao.

“George, I think he’s more suited to being a boxing trainer, do you want him to change his profession?” Gibbs said, “I’m getting older, and I’m looking for someone to take over my training gym!”

Old George: “…… “I wanted to ask you to help me guide Cheng Hao’s training, but you came to poach?
