Chapter Index

The police officer struggled to get up from the ground with his weak limbs, trying to pretend nothing had happened; he wanted to leave the kitchen quickly.

Then he would inform the priest and ask him to escape with him.

This Fengjia Town was really terrible.

The police officer was trembling and was about to walk out of the kitchen.

But suddenly he was called.

In the kitchen, the towns person spat out broken glass from his mouth.

The police officer clearly saw that the townsman’s blood-red tongue was cut into layers and almost split into several pieces, and it was still bleeding as he spoke.

The blood plasma that leaked out of his mouth had completely soaked his chest, but he nonchalantly asked the police officer how he found this place.

“I remember the guest was going to the bathroom, weren’t you?”

The church’s kitchen and bathroom were far apart. The fact that the police officer was able to run from the bathroom to the kitchen deep in the church corridor made one doubt his intention.

Hearing this, and looking at the townsman’s unchanged smile and the blood that was almost dried on his chin, the police officer was frightened and pretended to be calm as he explained that he had entered by mistake.

“I came this way because I saw a suspicious figure. It seemed to be the guy named Zhou Yuan. I told you before that the guy was abnormal and would cause trouble and ruin the wedding, but you didn’t listen to me…”

The officer explained loudly, trying to preemptively prevent the man from blaming him.

This trick was unexpectedly successful and the man was successfully fooled.

“I see. I see.”

The man seemed to be very concerned about this wedding. When he heard the police officer say that Zhou Yuan might disrupt the wedding, he immediately restrained his smile, and frowned, looking troubled.

“I’ll take care of it.”

The man seriously said that he wouldn’t let anyone disturb today’s wedding.

This wedding had to go perfectly.

Thus, the police officer was finally able to escape.

He didn’t dare look back, for fear of attracting the attention of the townsman again.

The feeling of being stared at at all times was so terrifying that he could hardly bear it.

But as he walked, he suddenly remembered that he had only told the priest and his fiancé Gu Yin that he was going to the bathroom.

How did this townsman know?

The police officer’s intuition told him that it would be better not to explore the answer to this question.

But curiosity made him turn his head back, and the result was that he saw a face staring at him.

It turned out that the townsman had been following him silently.

The police officer was so frightened that he screamed and fell to the ground.

The man squatted down, tilted his head as he looked at him and said, “I think you are right. Outsiders will bring trouble.”

As he spoke, he revealed a boning knife held between his fingers. The smile on his face was still kind, but at this moment, a terrifying malice finally spread in his eyes.

“No, don’t, don’t kill me! I won’t cause any trouble. The one causing trouble is that guy named Zhou Yuan! Don’t kill me—”

When the police officer saw the man reaching out his hand towards him, he thought he was going to be turned into the pile of red meat in the refrigerator, so he was so scared that he begged for mercy.

He was just here as a guest to attend a wedding banquet and he never thought he would encounter such a thing.

He really wished he had never come into contact with such mysterious things.

If he had known, he wouldn’t have followed Zhou Yuan here.

The police officer howled.

He still remembered how friendly this townsman was. Back then, he was smiling just like he was now, but he didn’t seem so creepy.

He was genuinely happy then.

“I really just came to enjoy the banquet, I have no bad intentions. You helped me so much before, remember? You are a good person, please let me go, woo woo…” The police officer was desperate and tried every possible means, as if grasping at a life-saving straw; he was trying to explain himself, hoping to awaken the kindness of the man.

However, this didn’t seem to be of any use.

The man before him looked like a monster in human skin, with no human emotion in his eyes.

Facing the police officer with tears streaming down his face, he just looked at him unmoved. The smile on his face was like a mask, and there was no smile in his eyes at all, only a slight distress.

He shouldn’t have welcomed these outsiders just for the sake of good luck.

It was really easy to get into trouble.

Fortunately, it wasn’t too late to mend the fold and it was still not too late to correct the mistakes.

Originally, he didn’t want to assimilate others on such a happy day, but in order to avoid accidents, he still had to assimilate.

Then they could go find the vengeful ghost and kill it together, so that they could be absolutely safe.

That damned evil ghost favored by the priest would only be completely obedient after being devoured.

Just as he was thinking about how to find the evil ghost’s true form, the man suddenly froze.

The terrified police officer heard the sound of bones snapping and twisting.

His eyes widened, and in the next second he saw that the neck of the terrible townsman in front of him was almost broken.

Blood and flesh crazily came out from under the carpet.

It was a type of red minced meat that the police officer had never seen before, and deformed limbs gradually grew out of it, like human stumps, and there was no complete body.

There were pale bones with growing flesh, bloody arms constantly stretching forward, and its deformed finger nails were black and sharp; they looked like they could pierce into any living thing that approached.

The man’s body was tightly grasped by several pairs of arms, his skin was torn and his cervical vertebrae was ruthlessly broken.

“Damn it…”

The man, whose neck was broken, cursed viciously.

His broken neck was repairing itself at an inhuman speed; he tried to free himself from the flesh and blood, but it was to no avail.

An ordinary person’s body couldn’t escape such a situation.

The police officer looked at everything in front of him in shock, and crawled out of the area covered by flesh and blood, just wanting to get away from those deformed arms that were growing more and more.

After running a little further, the police officer could even see that the half of the townsman’s head that hadn’t been completely covered was constantly biting the flesh and blood wrapped around his body, fighting against the flesh and blood that was growing wildly.

He was so crazy that he didn’t hesitate to bite off his tongue or tear off his skin.

For a moment, the entire corridor was covered in blood, and the blood continued to spread.

This scene was so shocking that the police officer was stunned for a moment before he continued to run outside based on his instinct for survival.

It was horrible, this town was so horrible!

The police officer now had only one thought, which was to run as far away as possible.

*

The police officer who ran away naturally missed Zhou Yuan.

Zhou Yuan, who had just disappeared, reappeared near the kitchen. He still looked disheveled, but his expression was more excited.

Although he encountered many setbacks in the ghost town of Fengjia Town, his hard work paid off and he finally found some useful clues.

He supported a man named A and climbed out of a space crack in the floor with great difficulty.

The spatial rift here was very fragile, which was why he was able to safely travel between the two realms.

To be honest, Zhou Yuan never expected that there would be two ghost realms in Fengjia Town now.

Moreover, these two ghost realms overlapped with each other to the point where they were nearly indistinguishable.

It was unheard of in the outside world for two ghost realms to appear when there was only one Ghost King.

The reason he knew this was because Zhou Yuan possesses a special tool used to see through the illusions of the ghost realms.

After escaping from the Flesh and Blood Town, he put on the tool, intending to find the location of the Flesh and Blood Ghost Realm again, only to unexpectedly discover two ghost realms.

The Fengjia Town in front of him, which was clear and festive, turned out to be another ghost realm where living people were forbidden to enter.

Time travel, spatial overlap—any one of these events would be enough to be considered extraordinary, let alone having them occur simultaneously.

Zhou Yuan knew that this must indicate that some kind of huge change had occurred within the Ghost King’s realm, but he had no idea where it came from.

So, he secretly followed the townsfolk to this church, hoping to uncover the cause.

And indeed, he succeeded.

Using the tool that allowed him to see through illusions, he saw a familiar face in the corridor of another church filled with flesh and blood.

It was none other than the university student named A.

This face had appeared in the Ghost King’s personal file, which was one of the essential documents for studying the Ghost King Gu Yin.

Zhou Yuan had studied it countless times and could almost recite every line in the document, so he naturally remembered the name A.

A was one of the many victims who had disappeared before the Ghost King first appeared in the public eye.

Having traveled back to the Ghost Realm from ten years ago, these victims were still alive, so there was a possibility of them having a lot of information to provide.

This was why Zhou Yuan took the risk of returning to the Flesh and Blood Ghost Realm to bring A back.

“Calm down first, and answer a few questions…” Zhou Yuan was eager to get a clear understanding of the situation.

Ever since entering Fengjia Town, all his plans had fallen apart. Now, he urgently needed useful information to figure out what was going on.

“Ghost… Priest…”

However, perhaps due to the mental contamination from the Ghost Realm, the university student A was now somewhat delirious; he was incoherent, which made it hard to understand.

This was understandable. After the Ghost King went mad, the Flesh and Blood Ghost Realm had become completely unsuitable for ordinary people to survive. Even with the protective tool, his mind had been severely affected, and he was now dizzy and disoriented.

Let alone A, who was already a mentally fragile human.

In this state, even with Zhou Yuan’s repeated attempts to calm him, he couldn’t get any useful information from A.

Zhou Yuan could only helplessly grit his teeth, suppressing his urgency as he couldn’t think of a better way for the moment.

The Ghost King Gu Yin was no longer an option for contact—it was clearly not in a state suitable for communication. To approach it recklessly would be tantamount to seeking death.

At present, all that Zhou Yuan knew was that Fengjia Town had reverted to the state of ten years ago, with two overlapping ghost realms. The Ghost King Gu Yin had gone mad for some unknown reason, likely due to the side effects of the Ghost Mask.

Then there was the terrifying priest mentioned by the townsfolk, someone Zhou Yuan had never seen in the files, and knew nothing about.

All the clues were a jumbled mess.

The more Zhou Yuan thought about it, the more his head ached.

But just as he returned to the church in the real world, A, the university student beside him, suddenly reacted as he looked up at the festive decorations on the ceiling.

His reaction was still unusually intense.

Zhou Yuan only saw A’s hands shaking like he was having a seizure, and his facial expression alternated between crying and laughing. It looked quite bizarre.

A’s eyes were wide open, staring intensely at the red decorations overhead. The ribbons and flowers, visible everywhere, blended perfectly with the solemn and majestic church environment, all clearly indicating that a wedding was about to take place.

A wedding that had never happened in his past life.

“What’s wrong with you?” Zhou Yuan asked, confused, but A shook even more violently.

“It’s so good, so good! The evil ghost is getting married!” A exclaimed.

Zhou Yuan didn’t understand what A meant. The Ghost King Gu Yin, that evil ghost, was still rampaging in the blood-soaked ghost domain—where did a wedding come from?

This wedding was for the villagers, and had nothing to do with the Ghost King.

But A paid no attention to that, repeatedly saying, “I won’t die now, it’s so good… The evil ghost fell in love with the priest, haha… so good, no more nightmares!”

In this life, he could finally escape the endless cycle of nightmares.

He would never end up with the tragic fate of his past life again!

A was so excited that he nearly fainted.

Although he had offended the priest in the church earlier, it didn’t matter. As long as the evil ghost didn’t start a killing spree, it was fine. At worst, he could apologize to the priest later by bowing a few times. As long as he could leave this place—leave this never-ending nightmare—it didn’t matter anymore.

Zhou Yuan, standing nearby, looked at the frenzied A with a complex expression.

The title “priest” had been heard so many times by now.

He once again confirmed that the key to unraveling all the mysteries laid undoubtedly with the priest. Only by finding the unpredictable variable, the priest, which wasn’t documented in the files, could he figure out what was really happening in Fengjia Town.

Moreover, the so-called “evil ghost falling in love with the priest” sounded hard to believe.

Zhou Yuan had always found it absurd to think that a ghost could fall in love with a human.

But then, thinking back to how the Ghost King Gu Yin had quieted down because of the “Ghost Mask,” he couldn’t help but ponder for a moment. He exhaled a deep breath and began to reorganize his plans.

Just as he was about to use his magical tools to detect the priest’s location, he suddenly heard a strange “squeaking” noise coming from not far away.

This sound had originally only been heard in another space—a terrifying space full of blood and flesh.

Zhou Yuan’s expression changed immediately. He realized that the two overlapping ghost domains were beginning to devour each other.

Once the devouring was complete, the ghost domains would become even more terrifying, and at that point, there would be no way out for him.

Looking in the direction of the sound, Zhou Yuan saw a town person being devoured.

He remembered this town person—he had given him an invitation earlier, allowing him to enter the church.

Now, this young town person was struggling desperately, gnawing madly at the flesh and blood wrapping around him. His crazed appearance was even more horrifying than the blood and flesh themselves.

It seemed that there were no normal people left in these overlapping ghost domains.

Zhou Yuan furrowed his brows, taking his weapon in hand and becoming vigilant. He turned to look behind him, only to find that the exit he had used earlier was now filled with more and more spatial rifts.

The space he had passed through with A had caused the rifts to leak energy, and the blood and flesh were now surging toward him.

Even worse, something more terrifying seemed to be trying to crawl out through the cracks.

Their aura was gloomy and desolate, thick with the scent of blood, and strikingly similar to the aura of the Ghost King.

Or in other words, that was the Ghost King.

Realizing something terrible was about to happen, Zhou Yuan immediately dragged the burden beside him, A, and ran in the opposite direction.

He wanted to escape before the rift expanded.

Unfortunately, he hadn’t gone far when the sound of tearing fabric rang out from behind.

The space had completely shattered.

A terrifying, frenzied aura belonging to a powerful ghost burst forth, dyeing the entire sky above the town a blood-red hue like flaming clouds.

The air over the town turned cold and heavy.

Within it, twisted whispers seemed to echo, repeatedly and desperately calling out a name.

Inside the church room,

Gu Yin was watching his beloved priest change clothes.

It was almost noon—the wedding was about to begin, and both of them needed to change into their wedding attire.

“What’s wrong? You don’t look so good.”

Jiu Shu fastened the buttons on his shirt and turned to look at the person being punished, sitting on the sofa.

The deep red outfit perfectly fit the priest.

The slightly loose collar framed the curve of his neck, making his pale, defined profile stand out even more, and his lips were rosy, which complimented his pearly teeth.

Compared to his usual ascetic priest’s robes, his current look added an alluring charm that made it hard to look away.

Gu Yin kept his expression calm, his phoenix shaped eyes were filled with tender affection as he gazed at his lover, signaling that he was fine.

“It’s just… the wedding is about to start. I’m a little nervous, that’s all. No need to worry, my dear.”

As he spoke, he stepped forward and kissed his lover while hugging him.

His handsome face still held a bright, sunny smile, as if nothing had happened.

But where Jiu Shu couldn’t see, the palm of Gu Yin’s hand was already bloodied—his fingernails had dug deep into his own flesh, to the bone.

Before the blood could seep out, the wound quickly healed.

His lowered gaze concealed a deep and dangerous fury.

That damned ghost—it had gone mad and still refused to surrender!

And now it dared to show up here—clearly trying to ruin his wedding with his beloved!

“My dear, I’ll go check if the officiant is ready. Wait for me just a moment, I’ll be right back!”

Gu Yin lowered his head and nuzzled against his lover’s cheek affectionately, eyes full of obsession.

He truly didn’t want to be apart from his love for even a second.

But there was no choice—he had to take care of that ghost.

Quickly, so it wouldn’t delay the ceremony.

Gu Yin saw his beloved stare at him for a moment before nodding, agreeing to let him leave.

After all, with the wedding about to begin, him suddenly leaving must be upsetting.

Thinking that his beloved might feel wronged made Gu Yin feel deeply distressed.

He tightened his embrace around his lover’s slim waist, reluctant to let go.

His lover gave him a reassuring smile.

The smile made Gu Yin’s heart tremble—he felt like every part of his lover was flawlessly beautiful.

He was already stunning on ordinary days, but in his wedding attire, he was breathtaking.

The fitted outfit outlined his tall, well-proportioned figure.

And when he smiled, his lips were rosy and irresistible—Gu Yin couldn’t help but kiss him again and again.

Such a perfect lover could only belong to him.

They would live happily ever after.

That was what Gu Yin believed, and the fury in his eyes twisted into deep, possessive affection.

He finally let go, reluctantly leaving the room.

Only Jiu Shu remained inside, watching his retreating figure.

It wasn’t until Gu Yin’s back had disappeared for a long while that Jiu Shu turned to look out the window, deep in thought.

It was clearly only noon, yet the sky already carried the colors of dusk.

It seemed today’s wedding… would not go smoothly.

Just as he was thinking about something, Jiu Shu suddenly heard a noisy sound coming from outside the room.

It was the screams and cries of humans.

When he walked out of the room, the first thing he saw was the townspeople running around in the church.

However, these townspeople were different from those under Gu Yin’s control. They were dressed in rags, covered in blood, and their mental states were obviously even more abnormal.

It seemed that they had been living in fear for a long time, so that they couldn’t control their emotions at all and could only scream to vent.

It could be seen that they were left in another space and were not able to return until the space completely overlapped at this time.

Jiu Shu stood on the second floor, looking at the scene of a group of people dancing wildly in the hall downstairs, with no emotion in their eyes.

Soon, a weeping and complaining sound seemed to be heard from deep in the corridor behind the hall.

The voice was very soft. If you listened carefully, you could hear desperate sobs and whispers, which drowned out the noisy screams in the entire hall.

Jiu Shu looked in the direction where the voice came from and pursed his lips.

*

Out of breath, the policeman frantically ran. He wanted to go back to the hall, but for some reason, the whole church became abnormally large, making it impossible for him to run anywhere.

He was running so hard that he was almost in despair.

The flesh and blood behind him were like shadows, getting closer and closer.

It was apparently fine before, but suddenly these strange flesh and blood began to multiply rapidly, constantly devouring the space inside the church.

In this regard, all the police officer could do was to keep running and never stop.

He didn’t want to be devoured by blood and flesh like the townsman before him.

He also didn’t have the strong willpower of the townsman.

He kept cursing while being swallowed. A layer of skin was torn off his face, revealing his skull and gums, but he still didn’t scream.

It really frightened the police officer.

Snap, Snap——

After running for an unknown amount of time, the police officer who was racing against time for his life finally heard human footsteps not far away and was immediately surprised.

The man had been running in this dead silent church corridor for too long. His vision was filled with scarlet flesh and blood, and behind him there was surging flesh and blood chasing him. He was in a trance and almost collapsed.

To the point that when someone appeared in front of him, he was so happy that he almost jumped.

As the footsteps got closer, the police officer realized that it was someone he knew.

“Great, I knew there were living people in the church! Mr. Gu Yin, save me–” The police officer waved his hands excitedly, wanting the priest’s fiancé to help point the way.

He really wanted to escape quickly.

The priest was a nice and helpful man, so his fiancé shouldn’t be a bad guy either. It should be no problem to help him escape.

However, before he finished speaking, the expression on his face turned into fear.

The priest’s fiancé was a very tall man. He didn’t feel much when he was sitting down, but now that he stood up and faced him, he realized that his body size was really oppressive.

At this moment, the priest’s fiancé was obviously in a bad mood, and his handsome but pale face was suppressing his irritable emotions.

When he lowered his eyes to look at the police officer who was blocking the road, his expressionless face looked very strange, and there was a familiar malice in the eyes looking down at him.

They were just like the townsman from before, full of pure malice towards living people.

It seemed to hate all living people, so much so that it would tear them to pieces without mercy if anyone dared to come one step closer.

The police officer froze in his tracks, not daring to make another sound.

It was at this moment that he remembered the sense of incongruity that he had previously ignored – the similar smiles on the faces of the townspeople.

Those smiles made him feel a little strange from the beginning, but he never took it seriously.

Now that he thought about it, there was something wrong with everyone in this whole town.

Everyone had a smile on their face, and even if it was sincere, it inexplicably made people feel uncomfortable.

The smiles were the same, and even the malice in their eyes was so similar.

It was almost like… they were the same person.

The moment the police officer came to this conclusion, he felt his hair stand on end as he watched this unusually tall man walk past him.

The man named Gu Yin wasn’t afraid of the surging flesh and blood. Instead, with a sinister look on his face, he tore it apart with his bare hands, trying to find something in it.

Anyone who wanted to devour its flesh and blood would melt into a pool of blood as if corroded by something.

In a short period of time, the flesh and blood that was so huge that it almost blocked the entire corridor was defeated, and the strange whispering sound that was originally inaudible in the ears became louder.

Although he still couldn’t hear it clearly, he could feel the confusion and despair in the voice, like the incoherent wailing of a person before death.

“Hehe——”

Listening to the chaotic whispers, knowing that the evil ghost was at the end of his strength and had gone mad to the point where he was only acting on instinct, Gu Yin couldn’t help but laugh wickedly, his smile reaching his ears, and he was extremely happy.

He liked seeing the evil ghost in pain.

Although he didn’t know why this guy suddenly went completely crazy, Gu Yin didn’t care. He just wanted to solve this trouble quickly.

——Jiu Shu… Jiu Shu…

The evil ghost was still mumbling in a trance, its consciousness already on the verge of fading.

It wasn’t until the body hidden in the flesh and blood was dug out that he felt a little more sober.

His drowsy consciousness heard Gu Yin’s malicious smile: “…You should have died a long time ago, you bastard, you actually came to the wedding to mess up, hum, forget it, it’s okay, I forgive you.”

“You’ll be happy when I devour you completely!”

After the words fell, Gu Yin remembered that he had promised his beloved not to kill the other.

Gu Yin stopped moving, his brows seemed to furrow a little, but his hesitation was soon covered by resentment.

It was okay, it was just a white lie.

He was different from the evil ghost, so how could it be considered as killing each other?

Thinking so, Gu Yin clenched the axe specially prepared for the evil ghost in his hand, raised it high, and let it fall, with blood splattering everywhere.

The ghost’s shoulder was cut off, revealing the white bones, and one arm fell off.

He really couldn’t stand the existence of the evil ghost and the possibility of it being treated the same as him by the priest.

No, they weren’t even treated equally. His beloved priest favored this evil ghost.

Crunch—Gu Yin almost clenched his back teeth to pieces.

It was all the evil ghost’s fault!

It was He who seduced his darling!

Gu Yin’s face was gloomy, and the jealousy and resentment in his eyes were almost overflowing. He wished he could tear the evil ghost to pieces right now.

However, seeing its weak and dying appearance, Gu Yin laughed sarcastically again, proudly showing off his close relationship with his lover.

He wanted to make the ghost, the third party, understand that the love between them was unbreakable.

“After I devour you, I will tell my dear that you were the first to attack me. He will definitely be very worried about me.” Hehe—— Gu Yin imagined how his lover would worry about him, and his heart felt sour and sweet, with guilt and happiness.

The fantasy was too extreme. Gu Yin’s smile became sweeter and sweeter. His ears turned red with excitement. When he raised the axe and brought it down, his laughter became more twisted and terrifying.

However, facing the cruel killing of his other self, the evil ghost was still in a trance.

The sharp axe pierced His eye sockets, scratched His face, cut His lips, and cut off His ears. He could no longer see or hear.

Even though He wailed in pain, He continued to drag His broken body forward aimlessly. The floor was covered with blood, and He stretched out His hand through the muddy flesh, as if craving for something.

But he didn’t even know what he was longing for.

The almost severed arm was too weak to support the movement, and when the scarred pale arm was about to fall to the ground, it was held by a warm hand.

It was so warm that even the evil ghost’s crazy consciousness had a moment of respite, infatuated with this unprecedented warmth.

Gu Yin, who was holding the axe high and was covered in blood, froze in place, not even able to hide the twisted smile on his face.
