Chapter Index

“Ghost?”

A young man’s voice softly rang out. A froze, only to feel that his tired and tense spirit was soothed by the voice, and he couldn’t help but raise his head to look over.

It was a young man who could only be  described as beautiful.

It was the most handsome man A had ever seen in his life, so beautiful that he was glowing in this gloomy church made of flesh and blood.

Especially after experiencing a series of horrible and ugly images of flesh and blood, suddenly seeing such a face, he was instantly dumbfounded.

The young man had black hair and eyes; he was tall, had fair skin, and his black, semi-long hair fell to the sides of his ears, showing his handsome facial lines. He looked at A with a smile so gentle that it seemed to be able to heal people’s hearts.

“Hello, it’s my first time meeting you. Have you seen a gentleman with long black hair who is very tall and strong?”

“Long hair?”

A was a bit dumbfounded, subconsciously remembering Gu Yin just now; that scary ghost seemed to have shoulder-length hair.

“Yes, he has pale skin and was wearing a black coat and trousers when he was lost.”

The youth described him carefully, describing him in detail as if he was searching for a lost child, and raised his hand to gesture his height as he spoke, which was more than two meters.

When raising his hand, he gestured at a high height, and his sleeves slid down, revealing the priest’s thin forearm, which looked beautiful.

This height … A subconsciously matched it.

It was almost the same as the Ghost.

But he should be overthinking; normal people couldn’t wait to avoid him. How could he want to go to the ghost?

“Father, this man doesn’t look too smart; there doesn’t seem to be any use in asking him.”

“Shhh, don’t say bad things in front of others!”

A heard a few men and women behind the youth whispering, and only then did he realize that the youth in front of him should be the priest they were talking about.

It was a wonderful thing to meet a priest with such an outstanding temperament, like a god descending into the world, in this church of flesh and blood.

A gloomily asked, “Did you come here to look for someone or to catch a ghost?”

With his aura, he might actually be able to catch ghosts.

But as soon as A opened his mouth, he felt that he was really mentally unbalanced; he actually came up with this kind of idea.

If the priest in the church worked, he wouldn’t have been stuck repeating his nightmares for so long in the first place.

The number of clergymen in this world who could have real skills could be counted on one hand, let alone having the power to deal with that terrifying-to-the-core existence of that ghost.

“…… Well, it all counts.”

Unexpectedly, the handsome and unusually beautiful priest pondered rather seriously for a moment and replied with an ambiguous answer.

A was unsure, thinking that the priest was joking.

He couldn’t help but laugh; the previous thought of wanting to let these townspeople go to their deaths was gone.

He was desperate before, thinking that he would die sooner or later, and these unfamiliar townspeople had nothing to do with him. His reminder was his last attempt, and he had done all he could.

Before, he didn’t care about other people’s deaths; even when his companions were dying in front of him, he only thought of escaping, and only after he had no hope of surviving did he have a bit of sympathy, wanting to be kind before he died.

But now it was different.

A stole a glance at the priest’s face and quickly withdrew his gaze.

He swore he wasn’t gay; it was just that this priest did have a charm that transcended gender and made people want to be close to him unconsciously.

He was really suitable to be a priest.

In this moment of complete despair and loss of all possibility of survival, he even had an impulse to kneel down and pray to him, as if this could lead to redemption.

A stayed by the priest’s side, feeling much more mentally stable, with much less despair, only to feel that the Church of god really did have a way that could baptize a person’s heart, and naturally hoped that he could live longer.

It was just a pity that such a good priest was also trapped here and would eventually be killed by the ghost just like him.

No one knew the terror of the ghost better than him.

No one could escape; it was just the difference between dying early and dying late.

“Is the person you’re looking for your friend? Have you been looking for a long time?”

A recalled some of the surviving townspeople he had met along the way in his previous search for Feng Qi, and there didn’t seem to be anyone particularly tall among them.

Those townspeople were all trapped here, and their minds weren’t quite normal anymore. Most of them talked nonsense, which was even more abnormal than him, who was constantly trembling like a startled bird.

“I just started looking; he’s my fiancé.”

“……” A looked at the priest, whose expression remained mild, with some dismay.

In the face of A’s reaction, the priest still had a casual attitude and acted calmly.

“What’s wrong? Is there anything very surprising?”

“Er, no, no.”

It was just that he was surprised that the priest was actually getting married, as the church’s clergy were all supposed to be abstinent and single.

However, it was reassuring to know that the person the priest was looking for definitely couldn’t be the ghost.

How could a ghost get married to someone, and the person he was marrying was a priest?

The fact that he was able to have this kind of thought just now made A conclude that his brain was broken.

“Did you just say you saw a ghost?”

Jiu Shu asked again about the topic he had started with.

“Yeah, anyway, don’t go any further; you’ll die! Even if you don’t die, you’ll suffer!”

A’s face blanched as he remembered Feng Qi’s tragic situation just now.

Feng Qi was very disgusted with monsters, both outwardly and inwardly, and now that she herself had turned into that kind of monster-like appearance, even more like a monster than that evil ghost, it was worse than death for Feng Qi, and her mind was probably already completely broken.

It was also her own fault.

It was obvious that she could easily see the insanity implied in the eyes of the Ghost, yet she still wanted to provoke him.

With such a terrifying existence as a fierce ghost, the only thing they, ordinary people with no ability to resist, could do was to keep running away, and moving forward to get closer was purely looking for death.

“What are you afraid of with the priest? God will bless us!”

The believers behind the priest were full of fervor, not the least bit afraid of the so-called severe ghosts that A was talking about.

After all, in the Bible, even the devil was afraid of priests; there was no reason for the priest to mind ghosts.

No matter how much advice A tried, they wouldn’t listen and instead became more determined, leaving him stunned.

In this eerie church filled with flesh and blood, a normal person would be afraid to be mentally tense and dare not act rashly, but these few middle-aged men and women were unusually excited.

It really looked like they were brainwashed; even fear had been washed away.

However, after looking at the gentle and reliable priest, A thought that he was overthinking it.

It couldn’t be a cu-lt. The priest was the perfect spokesman for the church.

So A patiently explained to everyone, wanting to clarify the pros and cons so that they could turn back and leave a complete corpse for themselves.

“…… That ghost is now talking upside down; his mind is very abnormal, and he’s easily stimulated. I just kept listening to it muttering things like revealing the truth, but I didn’t understand it at all.”

There was also something about getting married and all that; A still suspected that he had misheard it, so he skipped over it.

“It also wants to peel the skin of people it ……”

A still had palpitations: “In short, that is a very scary thing; don’t get close to it.”

The consequence of getting close was Feng Qi.

Upon hearing these words, Jiu Shu’s eyes flickered, and he instantly understood Gu Yin’s intention. He couldn’t help but laugh, but then he thought it over and realized that this was also possible.

It was time to dampen Gu Yin’s sharpness. It wasn’t a good thing to continue the stalemate in the current state of mutual fighting.

Jiu Shu lowered his eyes and pondered for a moment, then ignored A’s obstruction and walked towards the direction A had come from.

“Father! Priest! You really can’t go! There’s a ghost there!”

A was a bit anxious, not understanding Jiu Shu’s decision at all.

Since he was looking for someone, he could totally go elsewhere. Why did he have to go to the ghost’s side to look for him? Wasn’t that looking for trouble?

He was about to go forward and tug on the hem of the priest’s coat but was stopped by the believers behind the priest.

These two believers didn’t look too young; they had the windblown and sunburnt vicissitudes of a middle-aged farmer, but at this time, they behaved extremely professionally, signaling that A couldn’t easily get close to the priest.

That was a power that only the congregation had.

Even normally, the congregation would only approach the priest to say a few words; there was no such thing as tugging on the priest’s clothes; that would be an act of great disrespect.

It was a gift from the Father to let him speak to the priest; a stranger had no right to interfere with the decisions the priest made.

In any case, the priest was justified in whatever he wanted to do, and they wouldn’t allow A, a heretic, to come over and get in the way.

Jiu Shu heard the commotion behind him and glanced over.

That was what kept the two overzealous believers from stepping in and giving A a lesson.

“The person I’m looking for is there. I have to make a trip. If Mr. A is scared, you don’t have to follow me here; leave this place.”

“How can he be there! There’s only a scary ghost there! I’m trying to save you!”

A was stopped and could only watch Jiu Shu’s distant back; he couldn’t help but shout loudly with emotion.

If he didn’t have a good feeling towards the priest, he wouldn’t have spent so much effort to save him; these townspeople who had no memories of their past lives didn’t even know about his good intentions; even the priest was ignorant.

As A’s words fell, he finally saw the priest stop in his tracks as he had hoped.

The priest’s figure was slender, with a long robe that accentuated his waistline. When he stopped, he didn’t turn back but only slightly turned his face, revealing his profile.

His eyes no longer had a smile in them; he just faintly looked at him.

“I don’t need to be rescued, and it’s not scary.”

The indifference in his eyes for a moment actually gave A a creepy vestigial feeling.

It was a general indifference that was the same as that of the ghost named Gu Yin.

A stopped in his tracks with a pale face, and for some reason, suddenly remembered that when he was outside the church earlier, he had encountered a few crazy townspeople who said they were the stewards of some shrine.

Those townspeople said that in this town the church was an extremely frightening force.

He did whatever he wanted in the town, oppressing the common people and brainwashing many of the townspeople to do whatever the priest in the church told them to do.

The priest had a good skin, a good face, and a clever tongue, so he was able to win over so many believers and must have made a deal with the devil.

Some people even said that this disaster was probably caused by the greedy priest in order to eliminate the power of the shrine and gain more money by monopolising Fengjia Town.

For A, who knew about the existence of the ghost, he had thought that these were nothing but nonsense and had heard them only as a rumor, not worrying about it.

Now he suddenly remembered, only to realize that the priest in front of him was exactly the priest that the townspeople talked about!

Indeed, he had a very good appearance.

Recalling the look in the priest’s eyes just now, A’s teeth trembled with fear. He was indeed a man who appeared kind on the outside but was terrifying inside.

He was almost compelled by the priest.

Now that he thought about it, in the original death reincarnation, A had once been forced to experience the pain of the fierce ghost when he was divided into pieces, and the townspeople in that memory all brought with them exuberance and insanity, chopping up and cutting up people alive, which couldn’t be said to be anything less than horrifying.

And to be able to brainwash these ignorant and crazy townspeople and take them under his command, the priest must be an even more terrifying and crazy guy.

It was just that A still isn’t sure why such a profit-minded priest would want to get close to a terrifying ghost.

Fiancé, marriage.

These two words surfaced in his mind, and A was a bit dumbfounded, not knowing why he had once again come up with this idea; he actually thought of the ghost as the priest’s fiancé.

This kind of extremely absurd idea would only make people suspect that he had a mental illness even if he said it out loud.

But for some reason, his inexplicable intuition made him apprehensive, and after hesitating for a while, he still lifted his steps to follow the priest and their route.

After walking for a while, Gu Yin’s weird and pleasant laughter came over; A didn’t dare to continue forward and could only pick at the corner of the wall to peek.

He saw Gu Yin’s tall and sturdy back facing him, and something was under his feet; it was emitting screams and the cackling sound of blood and flesh being crushed.

“Heh—it really looks like a monster!”

Crushing the monstrous chunks of flesh under his feet and listening to the human’s screams in his ears, Gu Yin revealed a rather amused expression, but soon frowned again.

“But then there’s no way to wear your skin; it’s so ugly!”

Gu Yin crouched down like a small child with changeable emotions and looked at Feng Qi, who was still producing deformities, in distress.

The many chunks of flesh that grew out of the torso that didn’t belong to it had destroyed the integrity of the human skin, and now even if all of them were torn off, he wouldn’t be able to put them on to disguise himself as a normal person.

It was all his fault for not controlling his strength just now.

However, Feng Qi was also at fault; rolling around on the ground for too long caused the deformation speed to be too fast.

Gu Yin’s brows furrowed, and after a few seconds of thinking, the corners of his mouth suddenly tugged again, revealing an exaggerated smile that almost reached his ears: “Hehehe—in fact, when I think about it, this is also quite good; isn’t it a good match with that monster?”

The damn monster ghost with the monster friend Feng Qi, it really couldn’t be more compatible.

He’d throw it directly next to the fierce ghost; there was no need to waste words; he would definitely make Jiu Shu see through the true face of the fierce ghost and return to his side.

Feng Qi’s pupils dilated, looking at the monster in front of her, who was bitter for a while and smiling for a while; she revealed a look of mixed resentment and fear.

She had gone completely crazy; she didn’t want to make Gu Yin feel better if she didn’t feel good and kept cursing Gu Yin for being a monster as well, a monster who could never get love.

“Delusional monster! A rat that can only live in the gutter forever!”

Apparently, although she had just been suffering from the pain caused by her body’s deformity, she had also glimpsed some information from Gu Yin’s nervous rant at the same time.

Although it wasn’t clear who the “dear” in Gu Yin’s mouth was, it was certain that Gu Yin, this monster, was still longing for the love of others.

How could such a monster be worthy?

To throw away her good intentions and cause her to become like this, this kind of unfeeling bastard deserved to be split into pieces just like in his previous life!

He also said that he wanted to reveal other people’s true colors, but Gu Yin’s own true colors were the most terrifying!

No one could fall in love with Gu Yin after discovering his true colors, so the so-called wedding and lover in Gu Yin’s mouth must be just this monster’s delusion!

“That’s right, it’s all your own delusion! It’s simply impossible! Don’t make a fool of yourself and daydream!”

Feng Qi screamed in such a manner, completely revealing her nature, her current mental state clearly already being on par with Gu Yin in terms of madness.

And upon hearing such curses that poked straight to the heart, Gu Yin’s handsome face instantly filled with gloom.

He viciously crushed those deformed limbs.

If he wasn’t afraid of dirtying his newly changed clothes and affecting his ability to go see his lover in a while, he would immediately go up and split her into pieces.

“I’m not delusional… I’m not!”

“My darling is very fond of me, very fond of me! We will get married and live a very happy life!”

Gu Yin spoke in a tone full of longing, but his pupils trembled, narrowed, and dilated, as if even he was doubting something and could only calm his unstable mind by repeating it over and over again.

“Will, definitely will…”

True face… His true face wasn’t as disgusting as that of the fierce ghost, and Jiu Shu had long known its true face. As Jiu Shu had said, he would love him no matter what.

This was by no means his delusion; they were lovers.

But … would his beloved Jiu Shu really know?

Under the bandage on his face, flesh and blood were still growing, and blood flowed down his handsome pale face. Gu Yin nervously tied the bandage tightly and looked at his hand stained with blood.

It didn’t matter if he didn’t know; as long as he didn’t let Jiu Shu see it, he could always maintain his dearly beloved appearance.

Thinking this way, Gu Yin heard the familiar sound of footsteps getting closer and closer.

It was close enough to see his true ugly face!
