Chapter Index

Mu Sichen dreamed again, still in the same empty palace, endless fog, and Qin Zu hidden behind the fog.

This time, Qin Zu didn’t speak again; he just looked at Mu Sichen silently through the mist.

Behind him, Mu Sichen saw countless condensed tentacles, surrounding Qin Zu’s seat. One of the tentacles seemed particularly lively, waving back and forth like a hand.

Mu Sichen and Qin Zu stared at each other through the mist for a while, but he vaguely sensed that the eyes behind the mist were very large and bright, sometimes as if they were glaring at him, and sometimes filled with bewilderment.

Mu Sichen was under a lot of pressure from him and couldn’t help but surrender: “I don’t have any power right now, and I don’t know how to take it back, so let’s do it this way; when I go back to the game, I’ll find a way to take back my power. You shouldn’t always send dreams to me; I’m very tired. I just have seven days of rest time; let me sleep well for a few nights.”

Stalking He Fei during the day, playing games to make money before bed, and dreaming about Qin Zu at night, Mu Sichen felt that he really didn’t have any breathing time left.

“I didn’t do it this time.” Qin Zu slowly said.

After speaking, the particularly lively tentacle reached out to Mu Sichen and gently hooked his forehead, catching a deep purple butterfly from somewhere.

“This is…” Mu Sichen remembered the butterfly totem he had seen during the day and immediately broke out in a cold sweat.

Unexpectedly, he didn’t just sleep during the day but was also silently contaminated by this thing.

He had only borrowed his golden glasses to take a look at that totem.

“The legacy of the ‘Sky Pupil’ can transcend appearances to see the truth directly, easily peeking into the essence of power; use it sparingly below Hidden Star.” Qin Zu slowly said.

Mu Sichen understood somewhat. He had only used his glasses to look at the totem but accidentally saw the evil god behind the totem. That was why he was contaminated.

The golden glasses were a good thing, but the negative effects they brought were not something he could afford at this stage.

“Why would this thing appear in the real world?” Mu Sichen asked, “This should have been a power from your place.”

“Without them, how did you come to us?” Qin Zu said.

Mu Sichen immediately understood what Qin Zu meant, so it was something like the Butterfly Totem that appeared in the real world first, and only then did his crossing game come about.

“Can I destroy this thing?” Mu Sichen asked.

The big eyes behind the mist stared at Mu Sichen for a while then he replied, “Don’t you have anything else to say?”

“Say,… what?” Mu Sichen scratched his head. Did he have anything to talk to Qin Zu about besides these questions about the evil god?

The large eyes behind the mist seemed to close with some disappointment, and the lively tentacle wilted.

The tentacle contracted slightly, and the butterfly that was still struggling turned into pieces under the force.

At the same time, Mu Sichen felt that his body was falling and the dream was collapsing.

It turned out that this dream really wasn’t made by Qin Zu. The dream master was the deep purple butterfly, and once the butterfly was destroyed, the dream would end.

Before the entire dream space completely collapsed, Mu Sichen heard Qin Zu say, “Whoever brought you here is the one that can solve this butterfly.”

As soon as the words fell, Mu Sichen woke up.

As soon as he opened his eyes, he saw the doll lying on the head of his bed, and the only tentacle that could move was pressed against his brow.

After the pirated doll was sent back to He Fei’s bed by Mu Sichen, it actually crawled over with difficulty in the middle of the night while Mu Sichen was asleep.

Mu Sichen’s heart softened, he gathered it in his arms and softly said, “So you’re doing this to protect me.”

He stretched out his hand and pinched the claw paw that had the power of the tentacle tattoo attached to it.

The touch of this claw paw was different from the overall touch of the pirated doll; rather, it was the same as the genuine octopus doll, extremely bouncy.

Re-encountering this touch, Mu Sichen was somewhat joyful.

However, the next second, He Fei’s betrayed voice rang out, “Mu Sichen?!”

In fact, it was only a little after six in the morning, not at all He Fei’s usual work schedule. But He Fei had recently been influenced by the power of reason, and his work and rest were particularly regular, sleeping at ten and rising at six, so it was possible for him to see images that he shouldn’t have seen.

“Mu Sichen, I’ll see how you can explain this time.” He said angrily.

Mu Sichen had no way to explain; the little octopus liked him and always running towards his bed. What could he do?

So he said to He Fei in a very scummy manner: “You kicked it to the ground again in the middle of the night, I picked it up and you got rid of it again; so why couldn’t I put it on my bed? If you buy a doll, you should treat it well. What’s the point of doing that all the time? So I took in your doll.”

He Fei: “……”

As soon as he snatched the pirated doll back from Mu Sichen’s comforter, he said viciously, “I’ll tie it to my body tonight; I’ll see what other reasons you’ll use to steal it!”

After saying that, He Fei angrily shuffled off.

Actually, Mu Sichen could have utilized this opportunity to exchange the pi-rated doll and the pi-rated version 2, but He Fei’s company had problems, and the pi-rated doll had to follow He Fei until it was resolved.

Qin Zu’s hint last night should have been referring to the system.

It seemed that it wasn’t as impossible to use power in the real world as he thought, and since the golden glasses could be used, his power could be used as well.

The game pod app on his phone only had a login countdown and an early login button, and Mu Sichen didn’t find a way to do it on his phone, so he had to open his computer and log into the official website of My Ideal Town.

He did have an account on the official website, but that account only had a few test game score records and the ability to speak in the forum; Mu Sichen only chatted in the forum for a while when he came back last time, and then he never opened it again.

While He Fei was taking a shower, Mu Sichen logged into his game account and found that the background was different.

There was a “personal space” button in the background, and when he clicked on it, there was a simple 2D map of the town. There were three pillars in the town; two of them were bright and normal; the other one wasn’t only gray but also looked like it had been gnawed by worms; it was pitted.

There was a backpack symbol in the top right corner of the map, and tapping on it revealed a pair of glasses, none other than the golden ones.

There was also personal information in the background, showing that he was currently level 15, had a san value of 79, and his status was “just purified of pollution and somewhat weak,”  his energy value was only 8000/10000, and he was in the process of recovery.

Next to the backpack symbol, there was a mail symbol; on the mail was a red exclamation mark, showing that there were unprocessed messages.

Mu Sichen clicked on the unprocessed message, and a dialog box popped up: [Will you consume 5000 energy values to download the self-totem pattern?]

What an uneasonable consumption of energy value!

But Mu Sichen thought about it and felt that it had a lot to do with whether or not he could successfully resolve the contamination of the butterfly totem.

He clicked on agree and immediately felt like his entire body had been drained of its strength, becoming weaker and weaker; his palms trembled slightly, almost unable to hold the mouse.

His energy value was only 3000 left, and the self-totem was successfully downloaded to the computer.

[Download successfully; player can copy the self-totem by yourself; each copy needs to consume 500 energy values.]

This thing still couldn’t be copied freely?

Mu Sichen thought about it, opened the computer WeChat, and uploaded the picture to the group chat with Chi Lian and Cheng Xubo.

The picture was very large; the picture uploaded to WeChat was blurred; one had to click on “view original picture” to see it clearly.

Not long after, Chi Lian sent a message: [Captain Mu, is this something you drew yourself? It’s so beautiful! I got up in the morning and saw this picture, and my mood became really good; it feels like my soul has been washed. After seeing it, even going to work isn’t so annoying.]

Before she sent the message, Mu Sichen felt as if his body had been drained of another essence. When he saw her message, Mu Sichen looked at his energy value, and sure enough, there was only 2500 left.

After a while, Cheng Xubo also sent overflowing words about the picture, and Mu Sichen had another 500 energy value deducted.

If this thing was sent to He Fei’s company group and everyone could download and view it, Mu Sichen felt that he would be smoked.

He returned to the game interface and found the message record of the energy value deduction in his personal space, and there was an option behind the record: Do you want to enable download permission management? After enabling permission management, each copy must be approved by the player.

This function was too good!

Mu Sichen quickly clicked on “open,”  then the system prompted him to fill in his cell phone number, and then he could use SMS to confirm whether it could be downloaded.

Mu Sichen filled it out, and in order to do an experiment, he first sent the self-totem to He Fei.

He Fei was really the best subject for the experiment.

After washing up and preparing to go out to eat with the doll, He Fei received a message sent by Mu Sichen, saw that it was a picture that couldn’t be seen, and downloaded it manually.

Mu Sichen received a text message asking him to reply with ‘T for approved’. If he didn’t reply, it meant he didn’t agree.

Mu Sichen didn’t reply to the message.

He Fei waited for half a day but it didn’t download successfully. He patted the phone and muttered to himself, “Is the internet bad? Mu Sichen, what picture did you send me? We’re in the same dormitory; just directly show me.”

“It’s not an interesting picture.” Mu Sichen secretly typed, “T.”.

He Fei was puzzled. “Then why did you send it to me? Huh? The net is good again; the download was successful. What’s so interesting about this picture…? Is it a badge for some game?”

“Yes, the game I’ve been playing lately.” Mu Sichen’s head was drowsy, but he still tried to keep his eyes open to observe He Fei’s expression.

He wondered if He Fei would find the picture ugly.

Instead, He Fei looked at it for a while, whistled, and said, “The insignia is quite nice; when I have time, I’ll play this game with you.”

He actually didn’t find the picture unattractive.

Moreover, ever since He Fei was mesmerized by the little octopus, he had become one-dimensional and never did anything like whistling, which was a bit ostentatious but not really elegant.

Mu Sichen felt that the He Fei in front of him seemed like he had returned to the way he was before he was mesmerized by the little octopus.

Mu Sichen had 6,000 points of energy pumped out by the system one after another and was too weak to stand up. Leaning on the bed, he said to He Fei, “Has your company been hiring temporary workers lately?”

“They’re recruiting hourly workers,” He Fei said. “Our company’s cleaning lady has always been on vacation lately, and the company’s hygiene isn’t very good. The manager hires an hourly worker to clean the unit every day; do you want to earn this money?”

“A little,” Mu Sichen said.

“Then wait for me to ask the manager today.” He Fei said, “They’ve already booked today’s hourly worker yesterday, so today I’ll ask the manager if he can recruit you tomorrow.”

“Okay, thanks.” Mu Sichen said.

He also didn’t have the means to replicate the totem anymore today.

“But you don’t look very comfortable physically; did you catch a cold?” He Fei asked when he saw that Mu Sichen’s face didn’t look right.

“I’m a bit uncomfortable, probably because I slept too late yesterday; I’ll be fine if I make up for it during the day.” Mu Sichen said.

“Then rest; I’ll bring you dinner.”

He Fei finished speaking and left. Mu Sichen slept in a daze for a while, vaguely aware that He Fei went back to the dormitory. He put the bought buns, porridge, and eggs on Mu Sichen’s bedside and whispered, “A moment later, when you’re hungry, you can eat it directly; I’m going to work.”

At this moment, Mu Sichen’s state wasn’t only because he consumed too much energy, it was also because he cleaned up the butterfly pollution. He had a low fever, his body was heavy, and he was in a daze.

Seeing his flushed face, He Fei reached out and probed his forehead. Seeing that Mu Sichen’s temperature was a bit high, he looked at him with a complicated expression.

After a while, He Fei whispered, “I’ll lend it to you because I see you are so pitiful; it should be able to lower your temperature.”

After saying that, He Fei took out the doll from his backpack and placed it on Mu Sichen’s pillow.

Mu Sichen barely opened his eyes to say something to He Fei, but his eyes were blurry.

He Fei patted him on the shoulder, “Go to sleep.”

As soon as He Fei left the dormitory, one of the doll’s tentacles opened up and stuck to Mu Sichen’s burning forehead.

Mu Sichen’s heavy breathing gradually calmed down, and he fell asleep.
