C64 — Xiangping Will Collapse
by UntamedSAccompanied by the system’s words, Mu Sichen’s felt his body lighten.
The terrifying power that had been coiled around his body seemed to turn into stars and light and disappeared into the entire town.
Mu Sichen lost absolute control over the townspeople and player followers, but at the same time, the system had added an energy bar that accumulated power. Currently, it had accumulated 10% and was still growing “1,” “2,” and “1.”.
To fully charge the energy bar for a hidden star strike required 1 million trust points. If only the bar only rose by “1” or “2” each time, it seemed impossible to build it up to full capacity.
However, there were 20,000 to 30,000 people in the town, so with “1” or “2” points, it wouldn’t be particularly difficult to accumulate 1 million.
Overall, there was still a possibility that he could fight against a god-level monster.
Fortunately, option two wasn’t a loss. Mu Sichen smiled easily.
He had lost a lot, but he had gained more.
The fog that surrounded the outside of the library dispersed, and through the window, he was able to see the unchanging sky outside and the temperature that was exactly the same as what was displayed on Mu Sichen’s mobile phone’s weather app.
“System, what’s that cover on the sky? Why is the climate in Hope Town so weird?” Mu Sichen conversed with the system in his mind.
The system that promised to work with Mu Sichen responded: [Player is currently only level 25, insufficient level, insufficient authority. The system can only tell you that everything is related to the cataclysm, and when the player reaches level 80, he will be able to unlock the answers to all the questions. The player has only entered the game three times and has upgraded to level 25 within ten days. With the current upgrade speed, I believe the answers will be unlocked soon.]
Mu Sichen: “…… ” That was only if he kept his life and managed to reach level 80.
And according to the standard just given by the system, level 50 was Hidden Star, level was 70 Sheltering Sun, and level 90 was Maitian; level 80 was Qin Zu’s current level.
When he borrowed Qin Zu’s power to perform his skills, the energy bar on top of his head was “∞,” yet the system thought that he could reach Qin Zu’s level very quickly; that was simply a joke!
After mentioning Qin Zu, Mu Sichen remembered the maid who snatched the octopus belt.
At that time, Mu Sichen didn’t know whether Shen Jiyue had the ability to spy through mirrors, so there was no direct communication with the maid, and all plans of action were conveyed by the octopus belt.
The little octopus could convey its message by touching his forehead with its tentacles, and Mu Sichen could also use this method to tell the little octopus about his plans.
He took advantage of the time when he was changing his clothes to stick the tentacle peeking out of the octopus belt to his brow and tell the little octopus about his plans.
And when the maid changed the queen’s riding outfit and tried to steal the belt, the octopus belt took this opportunity to pass the message to the maid.
Everything was done in silence.
Mu Sichen wasn’t sure at the time that the maid was the dependent sent by Qin Zu; he only became suspicious after the maid’s attention to the octopus and thought it was a possibility.
But at that time, the maid looked too much like the simple pupil dependent, and Mu Sichen couldn’t be sure.
But the little octopus could.
Even if the voice of the octopus’s belt turned into a juvenile tone, it was still able to identify its dependent. If the maid was really the Simple Pupil Dependent, she wouldn’t be able to get information from the octopus belt.
Mu Sichen dared to take a risk this time, and it had something to do with Qin Zu as well.
To win the battle of Tongzhi Town, Mu Sichen’s own caution was important, his ability to analyze the truth from the mist was important, luck was important, and likewise, cooperation with Qin Zu was also important.
The maid was seriously injured by Shen Jiyue before, and now he didn’t know her situation.
It was hard to find a dependent that didn’t belong here; even if he was as strong as Big Eye and was able to look through the entire town with a single glance, he still didn’t have the power to find Yao Wangping, Shen Jiyue, and the others.
On the other hand, although Mu Sichen was still weak, it was very easy for him to find someone who was different.
Because he had distributed his power to the townspeople, everyone had a self-totem in their hearts that guarded their selves, and in contrast, those who believed in other god-level monsters didn’t.
Mu Sichen communicated with the pillars in the library and easily found six people who didn’t have a self-totem.
In order to find the maid, Mu Sichen didn’t expel them for the time being; he searched with his senses and soon discovered the maid’s whereabouts.
She was lying behind the bookshelf on the first floor; in person she looked young, like she was in her early twenties, but in the book she looked like she was in her forties or fifties; it should be that the plot had changed her appearance.
Mu Sichen helped her up and saw that the clothes on her back were torn and there was a huge scar on her back.
The scar was covered with mysterious patterns resembling octopus tentacles, which were gradually fading, and the wound was recovering at a visible speed.
Qin Zu had saved His follower.
It was the same with Yao Wangping’s wound last time; if it wasn’t for the fact that his follower wanted to sacrifice himself for Qin Zu’s divine descent, Qin Zu wouldn’t have disregarded his follower.
He was worthy of the title “Guardian god of Mankind.”.
Mu Sichen took off his only shirt and helped the maid cover her exposed back.
At this moment, the maid’s eyelashes moved, indicating that she was awake, but she didn’t open her eyes, probably pretending to be unconscious.
She was right to remain vigilant in a hostile town; Mu Sichen didn’t expose her, and after confirming that her life was safe, he communicated with the pillar with his mind, intending to expel all the people from the outer towns.
However, as soon as Mu Sichen’s hand was raised, his left eye saw a transparent tentacle hooked around his wrist, with the other end of the tentacle still connected to the maid’s body.
Mu Sichen: “…… ”
He Fei looked on in confusion but didn’t point out the matter of the tentacle, apparently unable to see this invisible tentacle.
Even Mu Sichen could only see it with his left eye.
After the golden glasses were shattered, a fragment entered Mu Sichen’s left eye, allowing him to passively use a portion of Big Eye’s power.
[This is the loot “True Eye” obtained by the player in Tongzhi Town. As the player has been assigned a portion of the “Sky Eye” divinity, you can independently control the “True Eye” and no longer passively see things you shouldn’t see.]
[The way to use it is to rotate the eyeball three times clockwise, and to turn it off is to rotate it three times counterclockwise. Of course, if the player feels that turning the eyeball looks a bit silly, you can do it with your eyes closed.]
The system was indeed a lot more considerate and also taught him to use the “true eye.” Without the system’s prompts, Mu Sichen didn’t know how long it would have taken to master the method of controlling the “true eye.”.
But being able to see didn’t mean being able to touch. Mu Sichen reached out and touched the invisible tentacle, but he didn’t touch anything.
He tried to pull off this sticky tentacle, but he couldn’t even touch it.
Mu Sichen could only try to discuss with the little octopus, “In the dream, it was you who told me to take away the power of the self-totem. I have already withdrawn the power; why are you still relying on me?”
The tip of the transparent tentacle rubbed against Mu Sichen’s wrist before burrowing into his skin.
Mu Sichen: “You want to go to the real world with me again? When the time comes, Qin Zu is going to give me dreams again; I won’t be able to rest well at night.”
“What?” He Fei rubbed his eyes and looked around. “Who are you talking to? I don’t think the girl is awake!”
“Don’t add to the mess; I’m busy.” Mu Sichen said to He Fei.
He Fei bristled, holding back a bellyful of questions, but he looked at Mu Sichen conversing with the air as if he were looking at a psychopath.
Under normal circumstances, Mu Sichen would have told He Fei that he was conversing with an invisible object, but right after Mu Sichen said “Qin Zu,” the familiar sight landed on him again.
After mentioning his name, would he be looked at?
Mu Sichen was now particularly sensitive to sight; he could even sense the direction of this line of sight.
He raised his head and looked due south; the line of sight came from there.
“Qin Zu, this isn’t me refusing to withdraw my power.” Mu Sichen said to the sky directly south.
In He Fei’s eyes, his roommate was pointing at the air and talking to it.
“If I hadn’t just experienced transmigration, I would have just called the hospital.” He muttered.
Mu Sichen felt that line of sight fill with confusion and disbelief, and it gradually became helpless.
Mu Sichen didn’t hear Qin Zu’s reply; instead, the line of sight disappeared.
Qin Zu wasn’t looking at him again.
“Qin Zu? Qin Zu? Hello?” Mu Sichen had the illusion that the other party had unilaterally hung up while he was on the phone.
“Not looking at me again,” Mu Sichen was a little angry and muttered, “Qin Zu, Qin Zu, Qin Zu, Qin Zu, Qin Zu, Qin Zu Qin Zu, Qin Zu…” He thought that Qin Zu would come out if he was annoyed, but Qin Zu didn’t look over again. On the contrary, the maid really couldn’t continue to pretend to be unconscious; she jumped up and said angrily, “You dare call Admiral Qin by his name!”
As expected, the followers of Qin Zu were all carved out of the same mold; they were usually calm and cold-blo-oded, but they just couldn’t stand him calling Qin Zu’s name.
Mu Sichen pointed to his wrist and said, “It’s good that you’re awake; the totem is on you, can you see it?”
The maid might not be able to see the invisible tentacles, but Mu Sichen’s small arm was already covered with half a flower, and it was continuing to spread; anyone could see what was happening.
The maid rolled up her own long sleeves and saw that the flower patterns on her arms were gradually diminishing.
“You took away Admiral Qin’s power?!” The follower said in shock.
With a movement of her hands, she brought out two sharp daggers from nowhere and looked at Mu Sichen with menace.
Luckily, Qin Zu’s followers were calm and sensible enough to not attack immediately. Otherwise, with her strength and speed, Mu Sichen felt that he might not be able to beat her.
“I didn’t.” Mu Sichen raised his hand and said, “It was your family’s admiral who came by himself.”
He also put on a look of disgust, waving his hand and saying, “Go back, go back!”
But the totem was still irreversibly transferred to Mu Sichen.
Seeing that the pattern on her arm was becoming less and less, the maid really couldn’t suppress her emotions and shed a line of clear tears, “Admiral Qin, are you going to abandon me?”
She was sincere; it was as if her faith had collapsed in an instant.
Mu Sichen looked at the invisible tentacle and asked, “Even with this situation, do you still want to follow me?”
The proliferation of patterns on Mu Sichen’s arm stopped.
Mu Sichen let out a slight sigh of relief; it wasn’t that he didn’t want to bring the little octopus back to the real world. Although the little octopus had caused him some trouble, hindsight proved that He Fei was far better off being contaminated by Qin Zu than being contaminated by the Butterfly Totem.
During this period of contact, Mu Sichen also developed some unspoken intimate feelings towards the little octopus. He had no relatives and seemed very cold, but there was still some loneliness in his heart. There was such a rogue following him, but Mu Sichen didn’t feel annoyed; he even liked it to the point of wanting to keep it.
But more than him, Xiangping Town and this maid in front of him needed Qin Zu’s strength.
Qin Zu was their spiritual pillar.
Even if he liked the little octopus even more, Mu Sichen wouldn’t selfishly take it away and leave the maid in despair.
“Go back.” Mu Sichen sighed in frustration as he spoke to the invisible tentacle.
The maid also broke into a smile and looked expectantly at the pattern on her arms, waiting for Admiral Qin to return.
Who knew that just at this moment, a majestic voice sounded in the minds of Mu Sichen and the maid at the same time: “Xiangping will collapse; stay here; he is the true ‘hope’.”
Both of them froze at the same time.
After leaving these words behind, the invisible tentacle no longer hesitated and flew away from the maid’s arms, busily drilling into Mu Sichen’s body.
It wasn’t satisfied with staying on Mu Sichen’s arm, and the pattern moved all the way to the heart position, stopping only when it reached Mu Sichen’s left chest.
The tentacles on the totem curled up, like a small octopus tucking in its hand.
Mu Sichen couldn’t be bothered to condemn the little octopus for this kind of behavior of hogging other people’s bodies and not letting go; all his attention fell on the words.
Xiangping was about to collapse… Was the ending of the book ‘Embrace’ not just a speculation by the Big Eye but a real future that would unfold?
Uh oh. So, now what? Thank you for the chapter!
I never thought I’d be so charmed by an octopus lol. TY for the chapter
I think, my favorite characters so far are the octopus version of Qin Zu. I don’t know what my reaction will be at seeing the humaniod version exhibiting the same habits as the octo version, but the octo version is my favorite at the moment. And the other one is the crossaxe(can it be even called a character) 🤣🤣🤣 the sheer amount of anger that it can express when seeing another graded weapon and it going in action to battle/destroy it, brings so much joy to me 😆😆😆 It’s like a spoiled child that doesn’t like seeing another child better than them 😅😅😅. I can’t wait to see the day that the crossaxe gained sentience and sapience 🌸🌸
