Chapter Index

Mu Sichen has already destroyed two “pillars.”  According to his agreement with Qin Zu, he had completed his promise; shouldn’t Qin Zu come to Tongzhi Town?

Mu Sichen couldn’t help but look at Yao Wangping and the octopus doll.

To his surprise, the octopus doll was gone.

Yao Wangping had long since awakened, and a huge Qin Zu totem appeared underneath him.

Yao Wangping said something under his breath and pressed his palm on the totem, but the totem didn’t react.

Mu Sichen came to Yao Wangping’s side and asked, “Are you summoning Qin Zu?”

Yao Wangping calmly retorted, “Who allowed you to call Admiral Qin by his name?”

Yao Wangping’s voice should have been angry, but his tone was devoid of any emotion. In order to come to this breeding area, Yao Wangping seemed to have shed his few emotions, leaving behind only his love for Xiangping Town and his faith in Qin Zu.

“Did the summoning succeed?” Mu Sichen asked.

Yao Wangping shook his head.

Qin Zu had no way to enter Tongzhi Town; why could Shen Jiyue?

Mu Sichen didn’t dare to raise his head to look at the sky for fear of being polluted. His line of sight fell on the half-eroded Self Totem; the patterns of the sky, the ocean, and the earth on it had all turned into moons: a crescent moon, a half moon, and a full moon, respectively, and the pair of hand-like and feather-like patterns were clustered around the three moons.

It was as if the self-totem had become the moon’s dependent, erecting a barrier for the full moon and guarding it within.

On the other side, Yao Wangping’s hand pressed on the totem again, and still nothing happened.

Mu Sichen forced himself to calm down when he heard an extremely faint voice.

He quieted his mind and listened carefully, but it was the system’s voice.

[Player used a pillar-level self sticker; remaining energy is 100%; please use the remaining self sticker appropriately].

He never expected that the system prompts, which were usually shouted in his mind, would become so weak now.

Was Shen Jiyue powerful enough to suppress system prompts? Or was his mental state too severely influenced by Shen Jiyue?

Regardless, he still had a pillar-level self sticker. If he used this sticker on top of the self-totem that was polluted by the moon, would Qin Zu be able to descend to Tongzhi Town?

Mu Sichen lifted his crossaxe and walked to the self-totem. He raised his pickaxe with both hands and was about to swing it down, but his hands gave a slight lurch.

The system’s faint voice was actually still playing back in his ears on a loop.

The voice was so thin and weak that Mu Sichen slightly turned his head sideways and held his breath before he could barely hear the system’s prompts.

[Asking the player to properly use the only remaining self sticker.]

[Asking the player to properly use the only remaining self sticker.]

Why did it have to say it so many times? In the past, the system was as shy as gold, afraid to say one more word, but now it repeated this sentence so many times?

Use it properly. Couldn’t the last self-sticker be used on top of the tainted totem?

But he couldn’t possibly use it on the moon hanging in the sky either.

He was just a human, and even if he threw the crossaxe too high, it was impossible for him to touch the bright moon in the sky.

Mu Sichen slowly lowered the crossaxe.

He only had one chance, so he had to think carefully about where he wanted to use this sticker.

The first time he heard the name “Lord of the Night” was from Chi Lian.

The room that Chi Lian was transported to by the game was also empty. She found the diary of the room’s owner and discovered that he was from Spirit Town, a town that believed in a god-ranked monster known as the “Lord of Night.”.

At that time, Mu Sichen realised that there weren’t only Qin Zu’s subordinates in the town of pupils but also this “Lord of the Night.”.

He had always been on the lookout for the third force lurking in Tongzhi Town, but he had never found any traces of the “Lord of the Night.”.

Unexpectedly, when he had just entered the game, he was noticed by the “Lord of Night” because his figure was reflected in the mirror.

When he saw the mirror, Mu Sichen did feel the line of sight, but since he was staring at the mirror and the person in the mirror was also staring at him, he ignored the line of sight and confused it with his own line of sight reflected in the mirror.

Recalling from the beginning, Mu Sichen suddenly had many doubts.

Shen Jiyue had discovered his existence so early; why didn’t he stop him from taking the “pillar” when he was in the sanatorium?

From the behaviour of Yao Wangping and Qin Zu, although destroying the “pillar” would create a gap in the realm so that other god-level monsters could enter the town, this “pillar” was best controlled by their own side, so they tried not to let it fall by the wayside.

Qin Zu and Mu Sichen had an agreement; after Mu Sichen got the second “pillar,”  Qin Zu could immediately enter.

He didn’t have an agreement with Shen Jiyue; why did Shen Jiyue let him move freely but also continue to provide him with clues? He even came to his aid at the sanatorium. At that time, without the mirror ability provided by Shen Jiyue, it would have been impossible for Mu Sichen to temporarily become a believer in Big Eye, constantly converting patients into volunteers and getting many self-stickers.

And so on! He had, at that time, been able to temporarily borrow Big Eyes’ power by looking directly at Big Eyes in the mirror through Shen Jiyue’s ability.

Shen Jiyue was a god-level monster who was extremely cunning and good at hiding things; what he said could not be trusted in its entirety, and the slip-ups he left behind could never have been a momentary oversight on His part.

Shen Jiyue wanted to contaminate him and let him become the Lord of the Night’s dependent. But just before the big eye woke up, he had obviously taken too long. Shen Jiyue had been chatting with him, patiently explaining His layout, as if he was considerate enough to let Mu Sichen voluntarily become His dependent.

Just now, even if Big Eyes woke up, with the power of a god-level monster, as long as Mu Sichen was forced to take a glance at Shen Jiyue’s true form, he would immediately be contaminated, so there was no need to waste time.

Shen Jiyue, however, acted as if he didn’t have enough time and left Mu Sichen to deal with Big Eye.

This was unreasonable.

Everything seemed to be connected, and the answer finally came out.

Shen Jiyue didn’t contaminate Mu Sichen because there was no need.

Mu Sichen had long ago been contaminated in silence.

Mu Sichen lifted the hem of his shirt, revealing the self-tattoo on his back waist.

He couldn’t turn around and see the pattern on it, but his left eye could.

Mu Sichen placed his hand on his waist and quietly closed his eyes. An image floated before his left eye; the tattoo pattern at his waist socket was exactly a pair of wing-like hands clustered around a crescent moon, half moon, and full moon!

No wonder Shen Jiyue hadn’t appeared when he, Yao Wangping, and the Feathered Eye Dependent were duelling.

Because Shen Jiyue couldn’t enter the breeding area at all, only when Mu Sichen transformed the “pillar” into his own totem could the “Lord of Night” come here.

It was he who let Shen Jiyue in, and it was he who was contaminated by Shen Jiyue and opened his domain to stop Qin Zu’s descent.

The only remaining ego sticker was to be used on himself.

Mu Sichen threw the crossaxe, which hung horizontally in the air.

Mu Sichen said, “Attack me; be careful not to ki-ll me.”

The crossaxe flew and spun in the air; it was covered in silver light, circled around Mu Sichen, aimed at Mu Sichen’s back waist tattoo, and carefully hit it.

Mu Sichen felt a warm current travelling from his back waist to his entire body, warming all his limbs and bones.

It was as if there was an endless power surging into him, and a sinister cold air was forced out of his body by this power.

[Player used 1 Pillar Level Self Sticker and gained 10,000 points of experience; congratulations to the player for advancing to Level 15.]

[Congratulations to the player who has achieved the “5 levels in a row” achievement and has gained the super-strong purification ability once.]

“Use,” Mu Sichen said.

An invisible power was released from his body, spreading out in all directions.

The three moons on the ego totem within the breeding area were erased, changing back to the pattern of the sky, ocean, and earth.

The blurred patterns of the self-totem in the distant sanatorium also became clear again, and the self-totem at the heart of every town person also became clear and transparent.

At this moment, an image appeared in the minds of everyone in the sanatorium, with Mu Sichen standing in the middle of a vast field, opening his arms to them.

Someone was so bold that he tried to step out of the sanatorium and realised that there was really no obstruction this time; they could leave that tiny sanatorium and walk freely within the town.

Everyone understood that Mu Sichen had fulfilled his promise to them.

The people crossed their hands on either side of their shoulders, filled with joy and hope.

[Congratulations to the player for completing Novice Task 2, successfully occupying the Tongzhi Town Food Processing Plant, and providing food for the player’s believers.]

[Congratulations to the player for rekindling the hope of the believers, repairing the “pillar” of the sanatorium, and gaining the trust and recognition of a large number of believers.]

[Congratulations to the player for obtaining the hope energy offered by the believers; the energy value is 100 points * 367 people, totaling 36,700 points of energy value; please use the energy value appropriately].

[Please complete Novice Quest 3 as soon as possible, expel the “Pupil of the Sky,”  occupy the town of Tongzhi, and obtain a safe domain.]

Mu Sichen’s energy had been used freely by the believers, and it was the first time he had obtained energy from them.

However, the energy of a mere 367 people in the sanatorium could reach as much as 36,700 points; no wonder Qin Zu could lend him infinite power, as Xiangping Town had an endless number of townspeople and believers.

As the self-totem of the processing plant recovered, the full moon in the sky was actually forcibly expelled from the big eye, gradually moving away from the town.

Sure enough, what allowed Shen Jiyue to freely use his abilities within the town of Tongzhi was Mu Sichen’s power.

Once Mu Sichen purified the contamination of the “Lord of the Night,”  even god-level monsters couldn’t freely appear in other people’s domains.

The pressure brought by the “Lord of the Night” gradually weakened, and Mu Sichen had just breathed a sigh of relief when he heard the angry roar of Big Eye in the sky.

His left eye was in severe pain, and a huge building appeared in front of him. A plaque hung outside the building read, “New Eye Library.”.

Mu Sichen froze. Why was he seeing images he had never seen before?

Immediately, he understood the reason: it was because Big Eye had awakened.

His left eye was stolen from Big Eye’s power; the reason he could freely use his left eye in Tongzhi Town was because every time he appeared in Tongzhi Town, it was “dark night,”  and in “dark night,”  Big Eye’s eyes were closed.

Now that Big Eyes had awakened, his left eye facilitated the connection to Big Eyes’ vision, and he saw the scene in Big Eyes’ eyes.

The words on the plaque of the library building changed rapidly, from “New Eye Library” to “Crescent Moon Library.”.

At the same time, a round moon, which was frightening and chilling, rose up in the sky from the library.

The moment he saw this round moon, Mu Sichen screamed miserably, and his left eyeball exploded.

This was the body of the “Lord of the Night.” Big Eye, as a god-level monster, could look directly at each other, but even though Mu Sichen and Big Eye had a visual connection, he couldn’t withstand the power of god-level monsters.

Fortunately, it wasn’t a direct view, and Big Eye took most of the pressure, but just the little bit of power that was shared with Mu Sichen was enough to destroy his left eye.

Mu Sichen’s entire body trembled in pain, yet what made it even harder was the information that kept pouring into his mind.

Shen Jiyue, Sunshade level, titles “Lord of the Night,”  “Tidal Fuse,”  “Spirit Dominator,”  “Master of the Darkness,” “Master of the Night,” “Pupil-less Moon.”.

Big Eye was known as the “Pupil of the Sky” and belonged to the same power of the sky as Shen Jiyue. In legends, the moon was also said to have the eyes of the sky.

Only by reclaiming all powers of the same attribute could Shen Jiyue reach the Heavenly level.

Because Shen Jiyue had the title of “Master of the Night,”  Big Eye would close his eyes in the “dark night,”  all in order to avoid the power of Shen Jiyue.

“Pupil-less moon” was destined to devour “pupil in the sky.”  From the beginning of the cataclysm, this was an inevitable duel.

It was Mu Sichen who got into this w-ar by mistake.

Mu Sichen disrupted Shen Jiyue’s plan to seize the “pillar,”  and it was also Mu Sichen who, after Shen Jiyue’s physical presence arrived in Tongzhi Town, realised his pollution and purified this spiritual pollution, using the power of Tongzhi Town’s own domain to drive Shen Jiyue out.

Unable to enter the town of Tongzhi to retrieve the “pillar,”  Shen Jiyue forcibly occupied the third “pillar,”  which was the “New Eye Library,”  and in a short period of time, he once again was on the verge of success.

After absorbing and digesting this knowledge, the severe pain in Mu Sichen’s brain gradually dissipated, and his mind also returned to normal.

But he still couldn’t stop Shen Jiyue’s descent.

Once Shen Jiyue devoured the big eye, he could use the third “pillar,”  the sanatorium and processing plant’s connection, to regain the domain of the town of Tongzhi.

This time, Mu Sichen really couldn’t stop Shen Jiyue.

Mu Sichen covered his left eye and slowly got up, listening to the hissing of the big eye in the distance, and thought to himself, Was this the end?

At this time, lying on top of the totem, Yao Wangping whispered: “You are the master of the rational; you are the giant curtain that covers the sky; you are the guardian god of mankind. Please heed the call of your most loyal dependent and descend to earth.”

As Yao Wangping chanted, the totem underneath him blossomed with a strange colour.

Mu Sichen looked towards Yao Wangping, only to see him close his eyes in relief with a look as if he were on a pilgrimage.

“You have finally responded to me.” Yao Wangping lifted his half-mechanical arm with difficulty and gently kissed that arm.

Yao Wangping’s body gradually turned into particles, turning into dots of light that dissipated within the totem.

And within the totem, countless invisible arms stretched out, and a tall silhouette gradually appeared in the totem.

Mu Sichen instinctively knew what was happening, and he closed his eyes tightly.

It was Qin Zu!

The octopus doll had told him that a god couldn’t leave the divine seat for too long, and there were extremely harsh conditions for even leaving the divine seat.

It turned out that wanting a god to descend required sacrificing the life of one of the dependents.

A majestic power shot up into the sky from the totem, and the Big Eye and the Pupil-less Moon, which were devouring each other, stopped at the same time, and the power, which was enough to cover the sky, firmly enveloped them in it.
