“Did you open that white gift bag?”

Qin Jue played with Chu Chen’an’s phone, clicked on his social software, and found Jiang Lin’s contact ID, but when he looked through their chat records, he found that they were all cleanly deleted; he pursed his lips, a little disappointed.

“What?” Chu Chen’an took his phone and flipped through the white gift bag again, finding a white gift box hidden inside.

“Open it.”

He opened the gift box, and inside was a watch with a circle of blue diamonds encrusted on the inner ring of the watch, twinkling like a starry sky.

“That’s a birthday present.” Qin Jue added.

Chu Chen’an held up his phone, feeling a sweet and cloying feeling in his heart. He stubbornly said, “I don’t want it.”

“Throw it away if you don’t want it.” Qin Jue retorted, “It doesn’t matter; I’ll send you a new one tomorrow.”

Chu Chen’an didn’t say anything, squatting in front of the coffee table; he just listened to his low, hoarse voice in a daze.

“You went to see your boyfriend just now, and you came out in two minutes. It seems that your relationship is not very good.”

This per-vert spied on him.

Chu Chen’an muttered in a small voice, “You can’t control it.”

“Why don’t you cheat, Chen’an?”

Chu Chen’an was embarrassed and annoyed; Qin Jue always blurted out whatever he thought.

Qin Jue said coldly, rubbing his phone screen. “I like you too. He doesn’t even care about your birthday. It’s meaningless for you to be together, isn’t it?”

“Stop.” Chu Chen’an lowered his head.

“Chen’an.” Qin Jue called Chu Chen’an’s name; his voice suddenly became hoarse and slow, as if he were holding back something.

“What is it?” Chu Chen’an vaguely heard a gasp from the opposite end; his cheeks reddened, and he almost hung up the phone.

He was actually…

“By the way, just now when I kissed you, ha…” With a smile on his face, Qin Jue whispered on the other end of the phone, “I tasted a mouthful of sweetness.”

It was just a pity that he wasn’t kissed enough.

“Shut up,” Chu Chen’an blushed. “Quickly return the phone to me.”

“Okay, but it’s too late today,” Qin Jue gasped. “Let’s do it tomorrow; I’ll come find you tomorrow, okay?”

Qin Jue’s voice was low, warm and slow, as if it were laced with seduction.

Chu Chen’an knew Qin Jue’s virtue all too well, so he refused, “Don’t, just send the waiter to bring the cell phone down.”

“It’s so late; you have to sympathize with them.” Qin Jue smiled and said, “Or is it that Chen’an wants to see me now?”

Chu Chen’an didn’t insist anymore and muttered in a small voice, “Then you must return it to me tomorrow.”

“Don’t worry.” With a smile on his face, Qin Jue muttered, “Good night, sweetheart.”

Chu Chen’an listened to this familiar nickname and calmed himself down for a few seconds before hanging up the phone.

His face was red and hot as he walked into the bathroom and washed his face, the coldwater dripping onto his cheeks calmed him down a little.

He retreated under the covers and tucked his head into the pillow, rolling over several times before lying back and closing his eyes.

When sleepiness struck, all he could think about was Qin Jue’s good night.

…… Early in the morning, the waiter brought Chu Chen’an a dining cart.

Chu Chen’an had just woken up and was still in a daze.

He watched the waiters bring the food cart in and set up a beautiful breakfast on his table, with a bouquet of fresh roses in the center.

The kind that cost you a plant.

“This is the breakfast Mr. Qin ordered for you,” the waiter smiled and handed a platinum-colored card handed to him. “Have a nice morning.”

Chu Chen’an yawned, took the card, and opened it.

As expected, it was a room card.

There was also a piece of paper underneath it that read, “Good morning.”

Chu Chen’an sobered up quite a bit, and he busied himself with hiding all these things in his pocket as he sat down at the dining table.

The roses he had placed in front of the floor window a few days ago were nearly wilted and were also packed away by the waiter by hand.

He approached the bouquet of today’s fresh roses and sniffed them; the sweet scent of the flowers then filled his surroundings.

It made his mood uncontrollably follow suit.

He washed up and took a few sips of water before taking a seat at the table, then he began to slowly savor the breakfast.

He took a bite of the shrimp; the meat was tender and smooth, yet not too greasy; it was good.

He chewed the shrimp and opened the cell phone given to him by Qin Jue; the screen showed several messages, all from Qin Jue.

12:30 AM
AN: Sweet dreams.

12:40 AM
AN: Miss your kisses.

AN: I hope I can sleep with you in my arms from now on.

7:30 AM

AN: Good morning.

AN: Remember to eat breakfast.

8:00 AM

AN: I have three meetings in S city today and will be busy until evening.

AN: But I’ll try to get back early to be with you.

AN: We’ll have dinner together again in the evening.

AN: my sweetheart.

He read the messages helplessly; it was still a question whether he could get his cell phone back; he sighed and replied: Let’s talk about it later.

After he finished breakfast, Liang Ruoxue and the three of them came to him and sat down at the sofa.

Liang Ruoxue squinted her beautiful eyes and asked, “Chen’an, did you receive the call from customer service? The ship’s departure has been delayed for another three days; it’s really disturbing. Why are there always delays?”

“I also received it,” Chu Chen’an nodded. “They said it was because of the weather.”

“Yesterday was fine; how come today it says it’s delayed again?” Gong Jian wrapped his arms around himself and snorted, “I don’t think so; this company just wants to earn more money by making us stay in the hotel for a few more days.”

“Aiya, forget it; just think of it as us playing here for a few more days.”

Liang Ruoxue eased the atmosphere: “I heard that there is a bar in the hotel; there’ll be a theme party; it’ll be so lively. Let’s go play tonight too.”

“Okay.” Gong Jian and the others had no problem with it, so Chu Chen’an also nodded along.

Shortly after sending them away, Cheng Hao came to find him.

Chu Chen’an saw Cheng Hao standing at the door and was a little surprised that he would take the initiative to come to him. He poured Cheng Hao a cup of water and sat opposite him.

Cheng Hao’s mental state today was much better. He had changed into a gray long-sleeved shirt, and his eyelids were drooping. He occasionally glanced at Chu Chen’an and then quickly lowered his gaze.

Chu Chen’an turned on the TV, and they sat on the sofa watching the game. Neither side spoke much, so the atmosphere was a bit stiff.

Cheng Hao lowered his head and sipped his water before asking, “Have you thought it through?”

“Huh?” Chu Chen’an held the remote control and followed his question, hesitantly answering, “I’ve thought it through.”

“If you want to enter this circle, I advise you to break up with your boyfriend first.” Cheng Hao said, “If you become a meat animal, I think you should know exactly what you will face.”

“You will be in a lot of pain, and you will definitely die in the end.” Cheng Hao looked at Chu Chen’an, “I still want to advise you not to come to this circle; you are different from me. You have a happy and splendid life, with so many people and things worth keeping. Depression is treatable, and it’s possible that you may be thinking this way all because of your condition.”

Cheng Hao spoke sincerely, causing Chu Chen’an to be stunned, but he could only persist. “Thank you for persuading me, but I still want to make this decision.”

“Hmm.” Cheng Hao lowered his head and said, “You should have learned about this circle before; most of the time a butcher only has one meat animal, and many of them are couples. Before entering this circle, the internal executives will hold a ceremony for you to pick out a butcher of your choice.”

Chu Chen’an’s scalp tingled as he listened; this felt similar to the segment on a dating show but a little heavier.

“High level?”

Cheng Hao: “Yes, the leaders who organize and protect us. Their status is special, and they have a lot of power. Although there is no crime in our circle other than su-icide by oneself, all other unnatural deaths caused by others are ille-gal, and it is only with the protection of these leaders that this circle can always exist.”

Chu Chen’an nodded. “So that’s how it is.”

Cheng Hao asked, “When do you plan to join? There’s a public performance at the hotel tonight; I can have my boyfriend introduce you to the executives.”

The boyfriend Cheng Hao referred to was Zhou Qiangshan.

“No, no, no,” Chu Chen’an said in a panic. “I might not be ready yet, just a few more days.”

Cheng Hao: “Okay, it’s fine; you can take your time.”

Chu Chen’an thought for a second, Maybe this was an opportunity; he could get some clues tonight. “That… can I go see a public performance?”

Cheng Hao: “Yes, let’s go together; there are quite a few people from outside the circle that are coming tonight as well.”

Chu Chen’an nodded, “Uh-huh.”

By the evening.

Chu Chen’an pushed off the invitations of Liang Ruoxue’s group, and the two of them, him and Cheng Hao, headed to the hotel’s negative third-floor basement, which featured a spacious and tightly guarded club.

For privacy reasons, everyone came to this party tonight wearing masks. Cheng Hao and he were both wearing masks as well.

When they went through the inspection at the door, Cheng Hao pulled out a card that looked like an ID, and one of the bouncers at the door took the card and swiped it in front of a special authentication machine, and the light on the authentication machine then flashed green.

Passed.

The bodyguard looked at Chu Chen’an and asked, “What’s yours?”

Cheng Hao explained, “He’s with me, he’s just here to take a look.”

The bouncer nodded, “Fill in the identity information and detailed address, and sign a confidentiality agreement afterward to get in.”

Chu Chen’an nodded; he guessed there would be this part. He took the folder and filled out all of his personal information, and when he filled out his work address, he wrote: none.

Before he came to the Star Hotel, out of insurance, he had long ago declared to the public that he had quit his job at the newspaper and was still in the middle of a pending job.

The bodyguard said without a ripple, “Since you know the special nature of this club, you should also know what to do.”

Chu Chen’an nodded. “Yes, I will keep it a secret and pretend I didn’t see anything.”

The bodyguard coldly said, “If this place is targeted by the police because of you in the future, nothing will happen to this club, and the one who has a problem will only be you.”

“Hmm, I understand.”

Chu Chen’an nodded repeatedly, nervous to the point of breaking into a cold sweat.

The bodyguard’s words implied that their backing was large and numerous.

After he finished filling out the form, they went through another security check before gaining entry into the room.

Lights of various colors flashed in the club, and Chu Chen’an felt like his eyes were about to be blinded.

On the dance floor, a few slim young boys and girls twirled their seductive bodies to the loud music.

The stage was filled with people; several middle-aged men with big bellies wearing suits and masks couldn’t hide their twisted and dirty desires.

The club was a three-story structure; the second floor was surrounded by walls made of transparent glass. Through the glass, perhaps high-ranking and influential people with abnormal hobbies were peering at everything happening here.

Chu Chen’an only dared to follow Cheng Hao. He leaned close to Cheng Hao’s ear and shouted under the sound of music, “Didn’t your boyfriend Zhou Qiangshan come with you?”

Cheng Hao shook his head. “He said before that he wasn’t interested in this.”

Cheng Hao brought him inside to the stage area.

It was very quiet here, completely different from the dance floor outside. The seats underneath the stage were spread out around the circular stage, so that no matter how far or near you were, you could clearly see the stage.

Cheng Hao and Chu Chen’an took their seats in the last row. Chu Chen’an put the invisible camera into the system space in advance and then took it out and hid it in the left breast pocket of his white suit when he came in.

As the piano music played, a host wearing a black transparent lace blouse walked in front of the red curtain.

The host wore delicate makeup and a red mask and smiled as he hosted, “… Finally, thank you for coming. This public performance is led by our butcher, Mr. Zhou, and the cute meat animals are ready, so let’s wait and see what happens next~”

With that, he licked his fingers with his tongue and twisted his waist to leave.

Applause and cheers erupted from the audience, and the red curtain immediately rose. Under the white light, three men were lying in the cage, wearing mouthballs and blindfolded, crawling obediently and meekly in the cage…

Chu Chen’an frowned and watched Zhou Qiangshan come up to the stage with a dinner plate and a whip and open the three cages, letting the three men bare themselves and kneel down in a row.

They took several lashes from Zhou Qiangshan one by one, letting out moans of enjoyment that were like cat calls.

And then, the stage then boiled; some whistled, some gulped.

Zhou Qiangshan sharpened the reflective blade in his hand and smiled as he squatted behind them…

Chu Chen’an inclined his head; he couldn’t watch it.

Cheng Hao’s expression wasn’t good; he looked at Zhou Qiangshan on the stage in a daze and clenched his hands.

Chu Chen’an spoke euphemistically, “Didn’t you say… that Zhou Qiangshan isn’t interested?”

“I didn’t tell him that I would come.” Cheng Hao’s eyes reddened, numb with fragile despair. “He probably thought I wouldn’t come.”

“Let’s go out first.” Chu Chen’an patted his shoulder.

They came to a more remote and quiet seat and sat down. Cheng Hao tightly pinched his hand; his fingertips were embedded in the flesh.

Cheng Hao lowered his head and didn’t say a word; Chu Chen’an didn’t also dare to make a sound.

He felt that Cheng Hao was like a glass bottle riddled with holes at the moment, only able to maintain its original state by sticking it with adhesive tape, and a slight mistake could cause it to collapse and disintegrate.

A few minutes later.

Chu Chen’an tried to comfort him, “Why don’t… you wait for the public performance to end, then you can go to him to make it clear?” He should be considered cheating like this, right?”

Cheng Hao shook his head. “No, he said he only likes me.”

Chu Chen’an: “But if he only likes you, he shouldn’t be with those three people…”

Cheng Hao interrupted him with red eyes and said, “Maybe he just has this hobby. He might explain it to me when he comes back… I haven’t figured it out yet, and nothing has happened completely.”

Chu Chen’an wasn’t in a good position to advise more because Cheng Hao had been completely brainwashed by Zhou Qiangshan. Zhou Qiangshan was the only person who supported Cheng Hao’s life, and his obsession was already deeply rooted. Even if Chu Chen’an said more now, Cheng Hao wouldn’t necessarily listen to him; instead, he might become hostile towards him.

Chu Chen’an: “Okay, then turn around and ask for clarification.”

Cheng Hao sat for a while, then got up and said, “I’m going to the restroom.”

Chu Chen’an nodded, “Go.”

When Cheng Hao left, he also quietly got up, found a position with a high view, raised his hand, pressed the invisible camera in his pocket, and filmed the center of the dance floor and the surrounding scene.

When he was done with that, he went back to the public performance hall alone and took a seat in the last row by the door.

During the process of Zhou Qiangshan tasting three teenagers, he instructed the system to shut down 90% of his hearing senses, as he felt a tingling sensation upon hearing the painful yet enjoyable screams of those young men.

On the third floor of the club, two men stood at the floor-to-ceiling windows, overlooking the hustle and bustle of the place.

Zheng Yuxi poured him a glass of wine. ”Why are you free to come to my place? Didn’t you just come back from out of town? In the past, I couldn’t invite you no matter how much I wanted to.”

Qin Jue stared grimly at the chaotic dance floor below and sipped his wine.

Seeing that he didn’t say anything, Zheng Yuxi added, “The ship’s affairs are all arranged, Mr. Qin; you’ll just sit and wait for the harvest like an outsider. I’ve got a new batch of goods here, especially tender, and I’ve specially reserved the best one for you; why don’t I send it to your bed tonight?”

“No need,” said Qin Jue.

“Then why didn’t you say that earlier!? I was running around to receive you.” Zheng Yuxi frowned and sat down; he’d just left two women in his private bedroom, both of whom were screaming quite nicely, and he was having a good time.

Qin Jue glanced at him contemptuously, turned his back to him, and stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window.

“I came to find someone.”

……

During the videotaping process, he was surrounded by a number of people who came to talk to him, and he rebuffed them one by one in a cold voice.

After five or six minutes, more and more people came to hit on him, and he panicked a little and quickly turned them down as he got up and ran out of the public hall.

He returned to the card seat and opened his cell phone to see that he had a dozen missed calls, all of which were from Qin Jue.

There was also a message from him:

7:20 PM

AN: Why aren’t you in?

AN: Where did you go?

Chu Chen’an turned off the screen and saw that Cheng Hao hadn’t come back for so long. He was a little worried and got up to go look for him.

He had just walked to the door of the restroom when he was pulled by the arm by an obese man leaning against the door.

Chu Chen’an said, “Let go of me.”

The man, who was drunk and smelled bad, smiled and tried to remove the mask from his face. “How much do you charge for one night? I want a taste.”

Chu Chenan struggled hard. “Sorry, I’m not that kind of person; please let go of me; I’m leaving.”

“Don’t pretend to be pure for me!” The fat man insisted, “No, I have to have you. There’s nothing I can’t get. I, uh… ah ah ah ah ah ah!”

The fat man was interrupted in the middle of his words by a sudden, sharp pain in his arm. He inclined his head to look and was shocked. “Qin… Mr. Qin…”

Chu Chen’an broke free, and he looked at Qin Jue, slightly stunned.

“Mr. Huang is so elegant.” Qin Jue didn’t look at him but smiled at the fat man, “Don’t you know that we don’t talk about forceful buying and selling here?”

One of the fat man’s arms were broken, but he still endured the pain and compensated with a smile, “It is my fault; it is my fault. Look at me; I get confused when I get drunk. I’m sorry, ah, little brother, I… I’m leaving. I’m leaving.”

The fat man sobbed up and kept apologizing to Chu Chen’an.

“Don’t be in a hurry to leave, Mr. Huang; I’ll treat you tonight.” Qin Jue narrowed his eyes with a smile as he glanced at the bodyguards behind him. “Go, treat our Mr. Huang to a good time.”

“Yes.”

The two bodyguards behind him made an invitation gesture to the fat man and assisted him away from the place.

The fat man shivered, his eyes full of fear. “I really didn’t do it on purpose. I didn’t do it on purpose. I’m not going. I’m not going. Let me go! I want to go back to Mr. Qin… Mr. Qin!!!”

The fat man’s gradually shrill screams gradually far away. Chu Chen’an lowered his eyes; he wore a blue mask; if he hid his face tightly, Qin Jue shouldn’t recognize him.

He lifted his voice and whispered a thank you to Qin Jue, then quickly turned around and left the place.

If he made Qin Jue mistakenly believe that he had a twisted fetish in this circle, it would be over.

……

He found Cheng Hao in the corner behind the booth, who was squatting on the ground with red eyes, stubbornly and numbly staring at the crack in the floor.

The only string in his body was taut, and Chu Chen’an knew that it would break one day.

Chu Chen’an gently patted Cheng Hao’s shoulder, “It’s getting late; let’s go back first.”

“Uh-huh.” Cheng Hao nodded and left this noisy and dirty club with him like a walking corpse.

He could tell that Cheng Hao actually didn’t like this place at all; he didn’t like these people with perv-erted hobbies.

He just poured his whole heart and soul into Zhou Qiangshan, and only by convincing himself to accept this could he fall in love with Zhou Qiangshan.

It was a monstrous love.

When he came to the door of the stairwell, he casually placed the mask on top of the iron lid of the trash can next to him.

Shortly after waiting for the elevator doors to close, a palm picked up the blue mask, and the person’s fingertips gently rubbed the exquisite texture of the mask.

After Chu Chen’an returned to his room, the first thing he did was to change his clothes. He went to the refrigerator and took a bottle of chilled drink and gulped down half of it.

The difficulty of this copy world’s quest was a bit overwhelming for him.

He opened his invisible camera and turned it off after confirming that a good video had been captured.

“Ding!”

His phone suddenly received an anonymous message.

“Why do you want someone to eat your beautiful body? You deserve to be locked in my castle so I can kiss you, possess you, and protect you every day. Baby, you are mine, including your body.”

Chu Chen’an repeatedly looked at this perverted, strange text message and vaguely felt uneasy; he quickly deleted this strange text message.

He was just thinking about it when his doorbell rang.

He approached and looked through the cat’s eye.

It was Qin Jue.

Chu Chen’an took a deep breath and opened the door to his room.

Qin Jue was holding a bouquet of blue roses and standing at the door staring at him, then he approached step by step. “Where did you go tonight?”
