Late afternoon.

Chu Chen’an brought the salad and yogurt and gently knocked on Cheng Hao’s door again. He was going to try to make more contact with Cheng Hao to see if he could discover more clues about this mysterious group.

Chu Chen’an stood at the door and waited for two minutes before Cheng Hao opened the door; his face was still pale, but he had changed into a loose gray jacket, wrapping his upper body tightly.

Cheng Hao’s lips were chapped, and his eyes were numb and lax. “What’s the matter?”

Chu Chen’an was a little nervous as he spoke, “I noticed you didn’t eat breakfast in the morning, so I brought you some vegetable salad; do you want to eat some?”

“No.” Cheng Hao, wearing heavy glasses, stared expressionlessly at Chu Chen’an’s face and coughed lightly.

Suddenly, he said, “I heard you lost your mobile phone; did Zhou Qiangshan take it?”

“Ah?” Chu Chen’an froze for half a second before reacting to the fact that Zhou Qiangshan was the strange middle-aged man from yesterday. He nodded. “Yes, it fell into the crack of the lift, but he has already paid for it.”

Cheng Hao coldly asked, “You received his business card?”

Chu Chen’an nodded, “Yes.”

He was a bit surprised that Cheng Hao knew that he had received Zhou Qiangshan’s business card; it seemed that they were in close contact.

Cheng Hao: “Why did you take it?”

Chu Chen’an: “What?”

Cheng Hao moved closer to Chu Chen’an, frowning, his eyes seemed to be filled with a bit of incomprehension, “Isn’t your family harmonious? And you have such a good job and friends, why do you also have this kind of idea?”

Chu Chen’an was confused by what he heard.

He looked at Cheng Hao’s red bloo-dshot eyes and frowned slightly, he didn’t understand why Cheng Hao suddenly asked this.

Cheng Hao also seemed to have realized that he had lost his temper; he stepped back a few steps and took Chu Chen’an’s salad. “Thank you.”

Chu Chen’an shook his head. “You’re welcome.”

Cheng Hao was silent for a while, then said, “I still suggest that you consider it clearly; after all, you and I are different.”

Chu Chen’an, “…”

He froze as he watched him turn and leave, and only after Cheng Hao’s door closed did he blink and go back to his room.

Chu Chen’an sat down on the sofa, thinking about Qin Jue.

He wondered what Qin Jue was doing right now.

Qin Jue had temporarily lost his memory; he now had fewer interactions with Qin Jue, which would help his mission more or less; at least for the time being, it wouldn’t be affected.

Qin Jue’s temper wasn’t very good; later, if he knew that he didn’t go to him first when he came back, he would definitely go crazy and angrily lock him up.

Chu Chen’an was more or less a little worried, but on second thought, the big deal was that after the mission was completed, he’d take the initiative to go to Qin Jue and pretend to be pitiful to cajole him. Qin Jue might not care about it.

This was a very useful trick.

Whenever he was angry, he loved to smash things and yell at people. Although he was fierce, he never scolded him or hurt him.

Once, he sneaked out to play in the snow, accidentally stepped on a stone and sprained his foot.

Qin Jue was in a meeting at the time; leaving behind the multinational conference, he hurriedly ran down from the third floor and carried him back to the sofa, enduring his anger while standing in front of him and looking down at him.

Qin Jue paced around in front of him twice. Looking at his eyes that were pretending to be pitiful, he was so angry that he stopped himself from speaking several times, then he pointed at him and loudly ordered, “You are not allowed to go play in the snow in the future!”

“I’ll have someone use a snow melter to melt the snow tomorrow.”

Chu Chen’an then pretended to be in pain; with water misting at the ends of his eyes, he covered his ankle and whimpered, “It hurts.”

Qin Jue squatted down and rubbed his palms till it was warm, then he applied the medicine evenly and gently rubbing Chu Chen’an’s swollen ankle. “If it doesn’t hurt you, you won’t have a good memory.”

“Don’t melt the snow, okay?” Chu Chen’an’s reddened eyes blinked as he whispered, “I still want to play.”

Qin Jue didn’t say no; his sharp eyes stared at his little face as he gently wrapped his ankle. “Baby, next time I see you sneaking out alone, I’ll do you to death.”

That night, Chu Chen’an’s swollen foot was wrapped and hung high in the air. Qin Jue kissed the white gauze on his foot, and on one side he claimed him even more frantically.

Chu Chen’an cried so hard that he couldn’t breathe; the stimulation and soreness that came like a heat wave made him want to avoid it.

Qin Jue bit his ear and said a lot, but Chu Chen’an could no longer hear what Qin Jue was saying.

He only heard Qin Jue say, “I’ll do you to death, okay? So that baby won’t sneak off to play with the snow.”

Chu Chen’an shook his head in a hurry and shivered.

He thought he would really die.

……

He came back to his senses.

When he saw the business card placed on the table, he remembered that he hadn’t bought a new mobile phone yet.

He busied himself by heading to the nearest mall to the hotel and spent three thousand yuan on a new mobile phone.

All mobile phones at this price point belonged to the basic models here, and they were all the cheapest.

Even though the behind-the-scenes NPCs had raised him well over the years and made him less money-conscious, he would still subconsciously buy the cheap ones.

He found a seat in the plaza under the mall, inserted a card into his mobile phone, and switched it on.

After switching it on, a new message popped up on the brand new screen:

“Ding! Dear user, today is your birthday. Happy birthday~”

Chu Chen’an almost forgot that today was his birthday.

He swiped past that message and took the lead in logging into his social account, holding that business card in his hand and typing in his contact number, then he found Zhou Qiangshan’s account.

His account wasn’t set to private, and the back of his avatar was a simple bloo-dy red color.

Account nickname: Butcher.

His social updates were a mix of red and white, and one could vaguely see human fl-esh. After hesitating for a moment, Chu Chen’an decided to exit the page first.

He walked into the cake shop and bought himself a cup of strawberry milk and a six-inch teddy bear cake. He chose a seat by the window and sat down, and the attentive shopkeeper prepared a candle for him.

The cake shop had a beautiful setting; the interior was surrounded by threads of lights, making it look dreamy and quiet.

With the sound of the piano, Chu Chen’an quietly lit the candle, closed his eyes, and made two wishes.

He wished that after the mission was completed, the behind-the-scenes NPC would also be with him.

The game world wouldn’t collapse again, and he could go home in peace.

He opened his eyes and blew out the candle.

For no reason, he particularly missed home at the moment, and his mood became a little low.

Chu Chen’an looked at the exquisite cupcake, directly took out a spoon, and cut a piece.

The strawberry-flavored cake was sandwiched with cream and melted in his mouth.

It was very sweet.

Chu Chen’an’s mood got a little better; he broke off another piece and savored it.

……

Outside the transparent glass window, a black Maybach was parked not far away, the backseat window was half open, and Qin Jue sat inside the car, subconsciously rubbing his fingertips.

He watched as Chu Chen’an took a big bite of cake, with bulging cheeks and a touch of cream on his lips. He was immersed in a dreamy light, surrounded by beautiful piano music, like a delicate doll.

A doll should be locked in a castle.

Qin Jue watched Chu Chen’an finish half of the cake, then he hiccuped. He looked like he couldn’t finish it and planned to go back with it.

The corner of Qin Jue’s lips curved slightly, then he closed the window and said to the secretary in front, “Let’s go.”

……

Chu Chen’an took a cab, which took more than an hour to get from the mall to the hotel.

In order to prevent himself from throwing up the cake he had just eaten, he returned to the hotel room, played a few games, and waited for another two hours before opening the social software again; he searched for Zhou Qiangshan’s account and tapped into his social updates.

The most recent update was posted yesterday.

Butcher: “#Butcher #livestock #love and food #eternallove

[I ate a piece of my meat animal’s intestines raw today; it tasted so fresh; it was out of this world. I really love this feeling so much! Regret not trying it before!]

Additionally, a picture was attached showing a few drops of bloo-d dripping onto a snow-white bed sheet with a sharp knife and… a small piece of reddish brown flesh measuring three to four centimeters long, resembling intestines, was placed next to it.

Chu Chen’an became nauseous; he slid down the screen with a tingling scalp, and there were surprisingly many people commenting in the comment area:

1F: “Mr. Zhou is so lucky! I’m going to try it next time too.”

2F: “Can Mr. Zhou let me try it too? I just finished my meat two days ago.”

3F: “Envious, did you take a video of cutting the intestines? I want to quench my thirst.”

The butcher replied: I filmed it; I’ve sent it to you privately.

4F: “Did the animal cut it themselves or did Mr. Zhou do it himself?”

Butcher’s reply: He cut it himself in a hurry, and he bought all the knives himself.

5F: “It’s really delicious! I’ve tasted it too; that feeling of the intestinal meat still writhing in your mouth, it’s really awesome. Mr. Zhou can try eating the offal raw next time; it tastes great too.”

Butcher: It’s fine, but it’ll take a while. I still want to keep him alive for a few more days. I’m still on good terms with this beast.

6F: “I also want my intestines to be eaten; can Mr. Zhou take a look at me next time?”

Butcher: Yes, but I have requirements for appearance and skin.

7F: “Still alive?”

8F: “So exciting… I want to… I’m just a little afraid of pain…”

9F: “I’m so eager to be slaughtered and become everything to Mr. Zhou!”

10F: “How long has Mr. Zhou known his beast? I’m so envious he has such an active beast.”

Butcher’s reply: a year; he’s my tenant. I came across a better-quality beast tonight; the skin and flesh look tender.

11F: “I’d like to eat it too; would Mr. Zhou mind sharing?”

Butcher’s reply: You can when he dies; I can’t eat it all anyway.

……

Chu Chen’an couldn’t watch anymore; he scrolled down to the bottom of the comment section; there were over 200 comments in total.

These bizarre behaviors seemed very common among them, and most of them had done similar things before.

[Ding!]

[Congratulations, mission one’s completion rate is 60%]

Chu Chen’an had just exited the page when the doorbell of his room rang.

He put down his mobile phone and went up to open the door.

Outside the door stood a male waiter, who smiled politely and decently and pushed the food cart in front of Chu Chen’an.

“Hello, this is presented to you by a gentleman.”

Chu Chen’an froze and lifted a corner of the white cloth covering the cart.

It was a large bouquet of roses.

Under the bouquet of roses hung a platinum-colored card, which Chu Chen’an flipped over, and it read:

“I want to kiss your rosebud.”

I want to kiss your rose-like stamens.

The symbolism was both suggestive and beautiful.

The handwriting was effusive, and it looked like it was that per-vert’s handwriting.

Chu Chen’an was slightly stunned, he pinched the card, not even caring that the waiter had left. He didn’t have time to feel embarrassed; he felt like the world was spinning and time was out of place.

The last time he came to this copy, he also booked a room, and because the room number was only one word different, he went to Qin Jue’s room.

He was quickly apologised, explaining that he had made a mistake.

Qin Jue was wearing a bath towel at that time, there was a frown on his face and water drops were still dripping from his wheat-coloured chest.

But after seeing his eyes, Qin Jue stared into his disoriented yet beautiful eyes for a long time, then he smiled.

“It’s okay.”

Qin Jue also explained to him, “Your room is on the left hand side of the door, the tenth room.”

Qin Jue was of mixed Chinese-European bloo-d, his father was French, and he was a man with clear contours and hard lines. His smile was particularly good looking, confusing Chu Chen’an. He also thought that although Qin Jue was a fierce man, he was also a good person.

So, on a snowy day, he was at the street in front of a rose shop, and ran into the drunken Qin Jue again.

Qin Jue seemed to be in a bad mood and was full of hostility. After drinking a few sips of expensive alcohol, he smashed the snowman not far away.

He lay prone on the snow, his expensive black coat was stained with snow water. The snow was so heavy that his black hair was starting to turn white, like a bad-tempered old man.

Qin Jue was by no means an old man, but he had a particularly bad temper.

Chu Chen’an came out from the entrance of the rose shop, he was holding a bunch of roses in one hand and an umbrella in the other.

Looking at his neck and earlobes that were frozen blue and red, he hesitated for a few seconds, but still walked towards Qin Jue.

He forgot what he thought of at that time.

Maybe he didn’t want to see such a handsome man freezing to death on the street, so he was kind again.

The snow on Qin Jue’s head didn’t fall anymore, so he tilted his head and saw a small shadow.

Chu Chen’an’s tiny earlobes were red from the cold, and he was still holding a bunch of very silly roses in his hand, while holding an umbrella for him with his other hand.

He huffed and looked over to the driveway not far away, he was overwhelmed by Qin Jue’s look.

He held the umbrella a little lower and smiled politely, “I just happened to be waiting for a car.”

Alcohol paralysed Qin Jue’s nerves and he exhaled, only feeling that the smile in front of him was too wobbly.

He reached out and took one of Chu Chen’an’s roses, saying in a quiet voice, “Then can I sit with you?”

Chu Chen’an watched as he was robbed of a rose then he heard him mumble something unclearly.

He froze.

Carpooling?

“Hmm? When …… sure.” He lamely accepted, “It’s just that… are you going back to the hotel? I need to go somewhere else first.”

Qin Jue smiled, “It’s fine, I’ll go wherever you go.”

He sighed, concluding that Qin Jue was really drunk.

He could only compromise, “Then let’s go back to the hotel first.”

He remembered that day especially clearly because Qin Jue snatched a rose from him.

On that night, the waiter had delivered a large bouquet of delicate roses, barely comparable to the inferior roses he had bought at the florist.

This bouquet of roses was bundled with a platinum card that also read:

“I want to kiss your rosebud.”

I want to kiss your rose-like stamens.

……

Chu Chenan looked at the card in shock, and sighed at the perfect fate.

TN:
