C110 —Kill That Big Star(8)
by UntamedSIt was obviously a pair of women’s under-wear.
Frozen in place, Shen Jue held this pair of under-wear, then raised his head. He saw a hand sticking out of the seventh-floor window, and in the morning sunlight, the hand glowed with a moist light.
The hand hooked upwards and gestured at Shen Jue.
Who was the owner of the under-wear?
She was asking him to send it up. Did she want him to bring it up?
Shen Jue thought about it but didn’t go up because it was getting late and more people would have woken up during the round trip to the seventh floor. Fortunately, he carried a slingshot with him.
Shen Jue took out the slingshot, kneaded the under-wear into a ball, and shot it at the seventh-floor window.
Seeing the underwear go into the window, Shen Jue turned around and walked towards the lobby on the second floor of the adjacent building.
This little episode didn’t make much of a dent in Shen Jue’s heart, and on this day he was given a slightly more difficult task than yesterday but still only managed to complete it.
On the third day, he directly asked the base’s quest giver if there were any quests where he could earn a fourth-floor meal ticket and a top-grade crystal core for completing the mission.
The person who issued the mission was a bit surprised to hear what Shen Jue said, but still helped him look for it and finally said, “There is one, but it’s particularly dangerous.”
Because people with abilities needed to absorb the cores to enhance their abilities, the people at the base would sometimes take the initiative to lure the zombies to come over, allowing them to enter their trap before they were ki*lled.
So they needed someone to attract the zombies, but this person would be in danger and prone to getting into accidents. If they were far away, zombies wouldn’t smell them, but if they were close, they were more likely to die.
But when Shen Jue heard about this mission, he was very satisfied because his physique was very inviting to zombies. He was the perfect person to do this mission; he didn’t have to walk so close to attract the zombies like the others.
Shen Jue didn’t have to think much before accepting the mission. The mission was to go deeper into the abandoned building where the zombies were hiding, so the people on this convoy all had abilities. When they saw Shen Jue, they didn’t gossip like the normal convoy people; their expressions were just a little complicated when they realized that he didn’t have an ability, and some people even directly said to Shen Jue, “Good luck.”
Before arriving at the location, the squad leader of this convoy reiterated the escape route to Shen Jue a few times, telling him to make sure he memorized the map.
The building they were going to was the favorite place for zombies to stay in B-city, where the buildings were clustered together and the sunlight had a hard time getting into the low-rise buildings. This convoy had already been there many times and knew the route inside very well.
After a while, it arrived at its destination. Shen Jue got out of the car; the ability users were already making preparations. The squad leader walked over to Shen Jue’s side and patted him on the shoulder. “Don’t be too scared; we’ll be waiting for you here at the entrance; just run outside if you see any zombies chasing you.”
It was simple to say, but the slightest slip up and you’d be caught by a zombie, so even people with abilities didn’t dare to just take on this mission, but Shen Jue took it as an ordinary person, and the way some people looked at Shen Jue was no different than looking at a dead person already.
Shen Jue heard the squad leader’s words and nodded, then he took his equipment. This time he was assigned a g*un with twenty rounds of ammo in it, just in case.
Preparations done, Shen Jue took his g*un and entered the front door of the ground floor. The rest of the group were waiting for him outside the front door of the ground floor. The zombies were basically in the car park on the negative floor and on the second and third floors, as well as deeper into the ground floor.
Shen Jue didn’t take long, he entered the ground floor with his g*un in hand before stopping in his tracks. He stayed put for a while, and sure enough, he heard the lumbering footsteps of the zombies as they picked up his scent.
After firing a shot into the clearing in front of him, Shen Jue ran back.
The team members were still chatting outside, as they didn’t think Shen Jue would come out that quickly; they didn’t expect him to run out after only going in for less than five minutes. The squad leader was just about to call Shen Jue out for being so timid when he saw the oozing mass of zombies following him.
Crowd: “……”
This mission was the one where they ki*lled the most zombies, and they didn’t even have to enter the building; the zombies would run out on their own.
On the way back, the crowd was still shocked by what they had seen earlier; they hadn’t seen so many zombies that weren’t afraid of the sun.
Someone couldn’t help but look at Shen Jue curiously: “We’ve been on so many missions and we haven’t seen this kind of scene; do you have some kind of mental ability?”
Shen Jue only shook his head and didn’t say anything, and when that person saw that, he didn’t ask anything else. After getting off the bus, the squad leader made it a point to find Shen Jue, praising him for doing an exceptionally good job on this mission and asking him to continue to take on this mission tomorrow.
Shen Jue nodded and busied himself on the first floor to collect his reward. Sure enough, completing this quest would result in an additional fourth-floor meal ticket and a piece of prime crystal core, but because Shen Jue had done a particularly good job on today’s quest, the things he got were double.
Which meant that he could now go to the seventh floor twice to spend money.
Shen Jue ate his dinner and went back to take a shower and change clothes before heading to the seventh floor. Before he went to the seventh floor, the three people in the dormitory were all there, so they all knew that he was now going to the seventh floor to spend money. They all had different looks; old Song looked the calmest; Wang Jingyi wanted Shen Jue to come back and tell him if the princesses there were really extra pretty; and Wang Jingming, who had a somewhat strange look on his face, had a look of wanting to open his mouth but not knowing whether to do so or not. In the end, he just told Shen Jue to pay attention to hygiene.
Arriving on the seventh floor, Shen Jue saw that the door to the seventh floor had a combination lock, and there was a man standing in front of it. The man was a little surprised to see that Shen Jue had come up from downstairs and said, “You’re here to spend money?”
Shen Jue nodded and took out the fourth-floor meal ticket and crystal cores he had in his pocket and showed them to the other man, who was even more surprised to see them.
One, because of Shen Jue’s looks, and two, because Shen Jue was able to earn these things even as a mere commoner.
“Would you like to order the princess or the young master? Any favourites?” The man asked.
Shen Jue was silent for a moment before saying, “Are there any less popular young masters?
The man murmured and thought for a moment before telling Shen Jue, “Young master number seven receives fewer customers because he’s a bit old, he’s thirty-three today, but none of our young masters here are good-looking; what do you think?”
“Just him,” Shen Jue said.
The man let Shen Jue in and told him to go straight to room 07. Shen Jue quickly found room 07; the door was closed. He stood in the doorway for a moment before raising his hand to knock.
It was only after a moment that he heard footsteps, and someone came over and opened the door. The door opened from behind, revealing a somewhat tired face.
The man didn’t look at Shen Jue, only slightly lowering his head as he spoke, “For one time, it’s a fourth-floor meal ticket and a piece of top-grade crystal core; for the night, five meal tickets and three pieces of top-grade crystal cores, to your room, or here?”
Shen Jue sighed and took the meal ticket and crystal core out of his pocket, handing them to the other man. “Here it is.”
The man took it and stepped aside a bit to let Shen Jue in.
The room was much nicer and a bit more spacious than the one below theirs, and it was fairly well furnished; it even had air conditioning.
Perhaps it was because Shen Jue had been staring at the air conditioner for a bit too long, and when the man closed the door and saw that Shen Jue hadn’t moved, he couldn’t help but follow Shen Jue’s line of sight to the air conditioner as well and said, “If you have a lightening ability, you can use it.”
“I don’t have an ability, sorry.” Shen Jue turned around and said, “I’ve already showered; do you need a shower first?”
The man only now got a good look at Shen Jue’s appearance, and he visibly froze. His looks were actually just clean-cut; if he dressed up properly, put on make-up, and covered the pockmarks on his face, he was barely good, but because he was older and too hard-boned, he didn’t have as many customers as the others did, but just dealing with the existing ones was already a bit overwhelming for him.
Those people handed over their meal tickets and crystal core, and then, as if they wanted to gain back the money they paid, they tossed them around especially hard every time; after all, these young masters weren’t the same as relatively soft women, so they were more relaxed.
Most of the guests who ordered him were rather rude and average-looking; some could even be called ugly. He hadn’t seen guests who were so good-looking.
Shen Jue frowned slightly when he saw the other man staring at his face. “What’s wrong?”
The man hastily shook his head and said, “Nothing; I’m going to take a shower first.” The tone of his voice was obviously much lower and softer.
Before he entered the bathroom, he turned back and also glanced at Shen Jue. The corner of his lips held a smile. “Sit down for a while first. I’ll wash up very quickly. By the way, I’m called Shi Cheng.”
People were visual animals; even after Shi Cheng became a young master, he wasn’t exempt from this. When he met a good-looking one, he would always feel a few points of comfort in his heart, and the sense of compulsion in his heart seemed to be less strong.
He did meticulous processing work every day, and the bath before picking up customers was just a regular bath. After he finished his bath, he looked at the face in the mirror that was filled with fatigue and could only apply powder to his face. Because he didn’t know if the guest would kiss him, he didn’t dare apply lipstick that was too colorful and only applied a light layer of lipstick.
Some guests didn’t like lipstick for fear of lead poisoning.
After putting on light make-up, his face wasn’t so haggard, and he sprayed a little bit of perfume behind his ears.
In the past, he normally wouldn’t do this, but tonight he kind of wanted to leave a good impression on the other party.
When Shi Cheng came out, Shen Jue was standing in front of his bookcase, seemingly looking at what books he had.
When Shi Cheng saw it, his expression changed slightly. Before the end of the world, he was a university lecturer, and although the school was only an average institution, it was enough for him. A few months ago, he was living a very peaceful life, and his social circle was also very simple, but he never thought that the end of the world would come. Without mental or physical ability, he could only be a young master; even his age was pressed down by two years before he could barely make it.
He still got sad whenever he thought about those days.
When he came here, he even applied for some books from the base to read, as if with these books, it showed that he hadn’t completely turned into another person.
Shen Jue heard the commotion of Shi Cheng coming out and turned his head slightly. “How is it?”
“Yeah.” Shi Cheng nodded. He looked at the bed next to him and said, “I changed the sheets today; no one else has slept in them except for me. I slept in them for a while at noon; if you mind, I can change it to a new one.”
“No need.” Shen Jue walked over to the bedside and started to unbuckle his belt, and when Shi Cheng saw his movements, a thin blush couldn’t help but spread across his white face.
He also walked over to the bedside and reached out to help Shen Jue take it off, not realizing that his hand had been avoided.
Shen Jue raised his eyes to look at Shi Cheng. “I’ll do it myself; by the way, are you okay with not using a condom?”
Shi Cheng froze for a moment before hesitantly nodding. In the past, he wouldn’t have agreed; after all, there was the risk of contracting a disease, but today he was afraid that if he refused, the other party would leave.
Shen Jue saw that Shi Cheng agreed, and satisfaction surfaced in his eyes for a moment. He took off his outer trousers, sat on Shi Cheng’s bed, and said in a low voice, “You’re coming on to me; can it be over in five minutes?”
Speaking of this, he also took out a tube of lubricant from his own pocket.
