Chapter Index

Ji Yao naturally realised Shen Jue’s evil move; his whole face was so gloomy that it looked as if it could drip water. He tried to pull his long hair out while yelling, “You, pull it again, pull it again, and I’ll press your stomach.”

As soon as the words fell, there was one more person at the door.

It was Shao Ge.

Shao Ge took the medical box over, and just in time to hear the second half of Ji Yao’s words, his facial expression couldn’t help but also darken.

Ji Yao’s first reaction to seeing Shao Ge was to turn his head to look at Shen Jue, and he found that the person next to him had indeed changed to a slightly furrowed brow and a pitiful look.

He was so angry that he laughed. He hadn’t thought that Shen Jue had two faces; no, it was three; he just knew when to pretend to be cold, and then in front of him, he had all kinds of looks, and he dealt with him venomously. But once in front of Shao Ge, he pretended to be soft and weak.

This was clearly an uncompromising black lotus flower.

[TN: Black lotus — a character who fakes innocence and kindness while in reality they are cruel and mean.]

Ji Yao grabbed his long hair, rolled over, and got out of bed. When he passed by Shao Ge, his footsteps slightly stopped. “Come to my room later.”

Shao Ge didn’t say anything. Ji Yao saw this and hummed lightly, then left.

When Ji Yao left, Shao Ge slowly walked in.

He closed the door behind him, walked over to the bed, put the medical kit on the bedside table, and said to Shen Jue, “Give me your hand.”

Shen Jue didn’t move; he just looked straight at Shao Ge.

Shao Ge waited for a moment and frowned slightly, those beautiful brown eyes tinted with a hint of displeasure.

“Stick your hand out.” He repeated it again.

This time, Shen Jue obediently did it but he also asked a question, “Why did you bet with Ji Yao?”

Shao Ge took a cotton swab and dipped it in the ointment, applying it gently and carefully to Shen Jue’s elbow where there was scratched wounds, and he didn’t even raise his head at the question, only saying faintly, “Then why did you come to him?”

“Because he threatened me with you.” Shen Jue answered quickly, “He has the psychic ability to confuse hearts; he can manipulate them, but it seems useless to me, so he threatened me with you, but I don’t know if you’re under control right now.”

Shao Ge’s action of rubbing the medicine paused for a moment; it was only half a second before he continued, “What do you think?”

Shen Jue said, “I don’t know; if you’re not controlled, you shouldn’t be here, but if you’re controlled, you shouldn’t care about me.”

Shao Ge took care of the wound at his elbow, threw the swab away, and once again walked over to Shen Jue’s side. “Any other injuries on your body? Take off your trousers and show me.”

When Shen Jue heard this, his eyes widened a bit, then he shrank back. “My buttocks are fine; no need to look.”

Shao Ge calmly glanced at him and started packing up the medical kit. Seeing this, Shen Jue pursed his lips and could only go forward and grab Shao Ge’s hand. “I… will show you, but can you not go to Ji Yao’s room tonight?”

Shao Ge didn’t say anything, but his movement stopped. Shen Jue immediately understood the other party’s meaning; he could only take back his hand. Feeling ashamed, he let the other party check the other place for any injuries.

“You got bruised.” Shao Ge’s voice was still cold. “Do you want me to rub it?”

Shen Jue froze for a moment before nodding gently.

The palm of his hand dipped into the medicinal wine and rubbed it in.

When he massaged his elbow, Shen Jue didn’t even have a reaction, but when he got on this spot, he couldn’t help but suck in a breath. Shao Ge’s movements didn’t stop because of Shen Jue’s reaction and even got harder and harder, causing Shen Jue to be unable to hold back; he could only turn back, lowering his voice as he somewhat begged for mercy. “Shao Ge, will you lighten up a bit?”

“Does it hurt?” Shao Ge was really showing his bad mood now. “I thought you were happy living here, and it didn’t hurt.”

Sure enough, he was still angry.

But did this anger mean that Shao Ge wasn’t in control?

Shen Jue thought for a moment, then struggled to get up, tugging at his trousers as he did so, only to be spanked halfway through. He was hit so hard that he slumped back down, with his pants stuck in a place where it could’n’t get up or down. The area where the medicine was applied wasn’t only blue from the collision, there was now a large piece of red.

“Move where? I’m not done applying the medicine.” Shao Ge coldly said, “If you don’t want to be treated, then I’m leaving.”

Shen Jue closed his eyes; in the end, he could only bury his face into the pillow. Shao Ge’s strength became smaller, but with less pain, the atmosphere became very ambiguous all of a sudden.

He kept his eyes closed and didn’t even know how long this medicine had been on, and when he felt a light weight on the side of the bed, only then did he silently pull his trousers up.

Shao Ge went out to wash his hands, only to come back again after a while. He packed up the medical kit before looking over at Shen Jue.

Shen Jue was sitting on the bed, his eyes looking pitiful and innocent. He hadn’t had a haircut in a long time, and his front hair had grown below his eyebrows, so his already small face looked even smaller now.

If Shao Ge hadn’t been his teammate for more than eight years, he would have thought that the person in front of him was only eighteen. However, there was one thing that Ji Yao didn’t say: Shen Jue did put on a bit of weight, his cheeks had some more meat than before, and he looked very white and tender.

Shao Ge looked at him for a while, but he couldn’t hold back and reached out to pinch Shen Jue’s cheeks. It felt good to the touch, just as tender as his skin back there.

“You’ve really put on weight.”

Shen Jue pursed his lips in embarrassment and said, “I’m pregnant now, so it’s inevitable that I eat a little more.” He finished, seeing that Shao Ge didn’t say anything. He thought about it, then gently came forward and embraced Shao Ge’s waist. He just embraced him, yet he could already feel the power under his clothes. “Shao Ge, I didn’t cheat; believe me.”

Shao Ge lowered his eyes and stared at the top of Shen Jue’s head. In his eyes were complex emotions. “But you and he were almost sleeping together, right? he told me. You once spent two meal tickets and two crystal cores to buy him.”

“You even know it was an almost, and the two of us weren’t together at that time, so it can’t be considered cheating. If you want to pursue it like this, then those girlfriends you originally had in the entertainment industry, do I have to go over the old scores one by one as well?”

Shao Ge wrinkled his eyebrows. “Why are you talking about those people? Me and those people were set up by the company for hype; I was so busy; how could I have time to fall in love?”

“But wasn’t I looking for someone else before because you rejected me? Besides, I wasn’t really looking, so it can’t be my fault; it should be your fault. If you hadn’t rejected me, would I have gone looking for a young master?” Shen Jue quickly began to fight back, even letting go of his hand and raising his eyes, glaring at Shao Ge. “You still haven’t told me why you made the bet with him? I’ve told you why I came to him.”

Shao Ge furrowed his brows even deeper, and only after a while did he respond, “He found me and talked about the two of you. I ignored him, but he said he wanted to make a bet with me, and I refused, but the next thing I knew, I was confused and made a bet with him. I remember that I clearly didn’t want to make this bet.”

So that was how it was, and then Ji Yao still used his powers on Shao Ge, but it seemed to be very short-lived; at least the current Shao Ge wasn’t being controlled.

He previously guessed that Shao Ge’s love at first sight for Ji Yao in his previous lives was because of his ability, but it could be that this supernormal ability didn’t last that long.

Maybe Ji Yao had to use this ability all the time to make Shao Ge love him. Or maybe, in the beginning, Ji Yao used Bewitching Heart, and in the back, Shao Ge really fell in love with him, and he didn’t need to use it anymore.

Of course, there was also a possibility that Ji Yao could control the length of time of the supernormal ability at will, but this one possibility was too scary.

Just now, when Ji Yao went out, he also told Shao Ge to go to his room later. Did he use his ability for this sentence?

“You just said that Ji Yao has the ability to confuse the mind? What’s that?” Shao Ge, who was beside him, suddenly asked while Shen Jue was thinking about things.

Shen Jue came back to his senses before saying, “He has a psychic ability that can manipulate the heart; you made a bet with him because of that; he threatened me with you because of that; he told me that if I didn’t come to the room, he was going to snatch you away; that’s why I came; I was going to ki-ll him that day; and just as I was about to do it, you came.”

Shao Ge seemed to be a little bit frozen; it took a while before he responded. “There’s really such a horrible ability?”

“Yes, that’s why Ji Yao can be the boss of this base; he barely does anything serious every day, but everyone under his hand is in order; no one even tries to rebel and squeeze him out; it’s strange, isn’t it?” Shen Jue said.

Shao Ge was silent for even longer this time. “Is there a way to break it then?”

“There is; ki-ll him, or don’t listen to him.”

But to Shen Jue’s surprise, Shao Ge suggested another way: “Making him mute would work too, I guess.”

Shen Jue thought for a moment before nodding hesitantly. “If his powers rely on his mouth to speak, it should work.”

They chatted a few more times before Shao Ge was about to head out, and before he went out, Shen Jue made a point of asking, “Are you going back to your own room later, or Ji Yao’s?”

Shao Ge seemed to be in a trance for a moment, then replied decisively, “Ji Yao’s room.”

That one sentence really was compulsive.

After Shao Ge left, Shen Jue laid on the bed for a while but still got up and left the room. He walked over to Ji Yao’s room door and made a move to knock on it.

After a while, he heard Ji Yao’s voice say, “What is it?”

Shin Jue raised his voice. “I’m hungry. I want to make mixed noodles for dinner. Anyone want some?”

Less than thirty seconds later, the door was opened from the inside.

Ji Yao had changed into a set of pyjamas, but his clothes and hair were still neat. “I’ll eat.” He replied quickly.

Shen Jue crossed over to him and glanced around the room to see Shao Ge. Shao Ge was sitting on the sofa in Ji Yao’s room, his gaze also looking this way.

Shao Ge’s clothes were also tidy.

“Are you eating? Shao Ge.” Shen Jue asked.

Shao Ge stood up with a sigh and said, “I’ll do it; you guys go sit in the living room; when it’s done, I’ll call you.”

Ji Yao sniffed and turned his head to look at Shao Ge. “You can cook too?”

“Yes.” Shao Ge headed out.

Ji Yao frowned, a faint suspicion in his eyes as he muttered in a low voice, “Does everyone know how to cook these days?”

Shen Jue heard it, but ignored Ji Yao and followed Shao Ge. When Ji Yao noticed, he grunted before slowly following.

Shao Ge didn’t have the habit of eating late-night snacks in the middle of the night, so he only made two people’s portions; the two portions were made separately; Shen Jue’s portion was much lighter; and Shao Ge also made Shen Jue a cup of milk.

Ji Yao looked at his reddish mixed noodles and then looked at the milk in front of Shen Jue. “Why don’t I have any milk?”

“You want some?” Shao Ge asked, “Then I’ll make another cup.”

Ji Yao thought about it then eagerly responded, “Forget it; I don’t drink milk. Pour me a glass of orange juice; I want a freshly squeezed one.”

Shao Ge turned around and went to the kitchen again, while Shen Jue twisted his head to look at Ji Yao. “Don’t you have any hands of your own?”

Ji Yao smiled; in his eyes was an owed provocation: “He’s willing to do it for me, can’t he? If you want to drink orange juice too, tell him.”

Shen Jue twisted his face away and said in a cold voice, “You trouble others to do everything; no wonder you can’t grow tall.”

He had never had a good tone with Ji Yao, so this time he still disliked him, but he didn’t expect Ji Yao to be silent for a moment before raising his hand and directly overturning the table in front of him.

The table crashed to the ground, and all the things on the table smashed on the ground, making a loud noise.

Shao Ge was startled by the sound and quickly walked out of the kitchen, seeing the mess in the living room, his eyebrows directly furrowed. “What’s the commotion?”

Ji Yao’s expression at this time was so calm that it was like the person who just overturned the table wasn’t him. He stood up and looked at Shen Jue with a smile. “You’re right, I just can’t grow taller, but so what? I have plenty of ways to make you suffer. You can’t stand Shao Ge getting a cup of orange juice, so why not stop him from using his hands in the future?”

When he said this, he turned his eyes to look at Shao Ge; his voice was three degrees colder. “Shao Ge, get the knife from the kitchen.”

Before the words were finished, his lips were already covered.

Shen Jue’s expression was unprecedentedly panicked, and he tightly held onto Ji Yao’s lips. “Ji Yao, I was wrong. I retract what I just said. Don’t let him take the knife.”

In the past, the bottom of Ji Yao’s eyes were always filled with malicious smiles. This was the first time Shen Jue had seen the other party’s eyes completely devoid of a smile, as if nothing existed in his dark pupils.

He raised his hand and ripped off Shen Jue’s hand. “You regret it now, but it’s too late; I told you, I’ll make you feel pain.”

“Then cut off my hand.” Shen Jue replied directly, “Chopping my hand will make me suffer.”

“No, I’m going to cut off the hand of someone you care about.” Ji Yao looked to Shao Ge once more; this time before he spoke, he grabbed Shen Jue’s hands and said, “Shao Ge, bring the knife over here.”

Shao Ge did as he was told and quickly came out with a knife.

The one he took was the kitchen’s fruit knife, which he had just been using to peel oranges.

Ji Yao glanced at the knife in Shao Ge’s hand before looking at Shen Jue, a smile returning to his eyes. “Actually, I can’t bear to cut off Shao Ge’s hand; after all, he’s such a beautiful person, and with a crippled body, he won’t be beautiful anymore. So, I’ll give you one last chance, okay?”

Shen Jue barely hesitated. “Go ahead.”

“The child in your belly or Shao Ge’s hand, choose one.” Ji Yao once again forced Shen Jue to make a choice.

This time, it seemed that there was no longer room for Shen Jue to not choose.

Shao Ge’s knife was still in his hand.

For Shen Jue, the child in his belly could keep him safe for a while in the post-apocalyptic world; at least he didn’t have to fear zombies, and he didn’t want to go looking for a man to touch him and do that kind of disgusting thing.

But Shao Ge was the realm lord; the ultimate goal of everything he did was to make Shao Ge fall in love with him; if he chose the child, it was the same as giving up Shao Ge.

In fact, this choice almost didn’t need to be made; in the realm, Shen Jue could only put the realm lord first in everything.

“I choose Shao Ge’s hand.” Shen Jue said.

Ji Yao’s eyes changed slightly when he heard this: “Are you sure?”

“I’m sure.” Shen Jue said, “Tell him to put the knife down; when you want to remove the child, I’ll listen to you.”

Ji Yao was silent for a moment, then he directly shook off Shen Jue’s hand and let out a cold laugh. “Alright, tomorrow I’ll take you to have this child done.”

After he finished speaking, he turned around and walked away, entering the room and heavily closing the door behind him, as if Shen Jue’s behaviour just now had angered him even more.

Shen Jue wasn’t in the mood to pay attention to this psychopath, Ji Yao. He first took the knife from Shao Ge’s hand and put it back in the kitchen.

Shao Ge seemed to have heard the conversation between Shen Jue and Ji Yao while he was being controlled. He followed Shen Jue into the kitchen, and his voice had a displeased and disconcerted tone to it. “Are you crazy? Shen Jue.”

Shen Jue turned his back to Shao Ge; his voice was low. “I’m not crazy; it’s fine if I don’t have the baby, but I can’t see your hand being chopped off. I remember your fans saying your hands were the second-best-looking part of your body.”

There was only silence behind him; he didn’t know how long it took before Shen Jue felt someone embrace his shoulders from behind. “He won’t cut off my hands; are you still hungry?”

“Not hungry.” Shen Jue wasn’t hungry in the first place; it was in order to separate the two that he went and knocked on Ji Yao’s door.

“Then go back to your room and sleep first; don’t worry.” Shao Ge paused for a moment. “I’ll keep our child safe.”
