Chapter Index

When Shen Jue returned home, he startled Shao Ge.

He hurriedly put MoMo back in the pram and walked over with a serious expression. “What’s wrong with you?” He looked at the orange juice stains on Shen Jue’s clothes, as if he thought of something, he asked, “Did you run into someone?”

“No, I accidentally spilled my drink.” Shen Jue handed Shao Ge his purchase and said, “Help me put it away; I’m going to take a shower first.”

Before he could take two steps, his hand was tugged.

“It was a spilled drink, yet the back collar of your shirt is also stained, and your hair…” Shao Ge reached out and touched it, his brows furrowed tighter and tighter. “Those private fans went looking for you, right? Damn, that group of crazies!”

The more Shao Ge thought about it, the more angry he got. He turned around and was about to go out, but was stopped by Shen Jue.

“Forget it; haven’t we seen a lot of this kind of fan? They just haven’t been able to adapt yet.”

Shao Ge looked at Shen Jue, who was clearly being bullied but also comforted him in turn. His heart ached, but he couldn’t do anything about it. Was it really impossible to do anything? Even if it wasn’t possible, should he throw the drink back?

Although they were no longer celebrities, their former lives as celebrities had made them accustomed to tolerating some of their fans’ aggressive behaviors, such as car chases and clandestine photo shoots. In fact, they were very annoyed by such things, but they could only verbally persuade them.

Because they were public figures, it was as if they had to show their private lives to the public.

Even at the end of the world, although most of the wise fans could accept the fact that they were no longer stars, it was hard enough to survive.

But there was that group of people who hid in the shadows, treating their favorite stars as their personal possessions, and once they found out that this possession had a real owner, they would become furious.

Shao Ge’s mood was extraordinarily low tonight, as he realized how powerless he was. There was no way he could actually go and get that group of fans to fight him, as it would set off the darker elements in their hearts even more, and when the time came, they would probably end up hurting Shen Jue.

That group of private fans wouldn’t necessarily hurt him, but there was a good chance they’d hurt Shen Jue.

This time it was splashing drinks, and the next time they could splash something else.

In the post-apocalyptic world, people had access to gu-ns which was unlike in the old ordered society.

Shen Jue felt as if nothing was wrong at all, talking to Shao Ge normally with nothing unusual in his behavior, except that when it came time to go to sleep, he saw that Shao Ge was still wrinkling his brow and let out a light laugh, reaching over to forcefully smooth the other man’s brows.

“Don’t squeeze your face; it’s not a big deal; I’ll be more careful when I go out in the future; it’s just splashing drinks; why keep thinking about it? Smile.” Shen Jue said softly.

Shao Ge tugged at the corners of his lips and barely forced on a smile. He hugged Shen Jue back and said, “I’m really worried about you and Mo Mo.”

Shen Jue didn’t tell Shao Ge about that declaration of war, and in response to Shao Ge’s words, he just said soothingly, “It’s okay; didn’t you say that you’d have a chance to get out of here soon? By then, we can live farther away, and we’ll be fine. Right now it’s at the same base, so there’s too many chances to run into each other.”

Although Shen Jue was just saying this, Shao Ge’s heart still eased, but there was a vague uneasiness in his heart, as if something big was about to happen next.

For the next few days, he wouldn’t let Shen Jue go out alone; he had to go with him every time, and since it wasn’t safe for Mo Mo to be at home alone, he held Mo Mo in his arms as well.

Wherever Shen Jue went, he would hold MoMo in his arms and follow him there, not moving an inch. Sometimes when Shen Jue looked back, he could step on Shao Ge’s feet, and after a few times, he felt helpless.

“No need to get that close; how many times have I stepped on you?”

Shao Ge didn’t mind at all. “It’s okay; it doesn’t hurt.”

Shen Jue looked at the already awake Momo and said, “Give me the baby to hold, then let’s go to the checkout and finish shopping.”

The just-awakened MoMo was at his most adorable, not talking or crying, just looking softly at people. Shen Jue held out his hand to him, and he obediently held out his arms for a hug.

Shao Ge obediently gave the baby to Shen Jue, then pushed the cart ahead of him, and while queuing at the checkout counter, he saw a row of health supplies, he first took a box and threw it into the trolley before looking back at Shen Jue, “What flavour do you want …”

Once he looked, he realized that Shen Jue was a bit far away from him at the moment.

Mo Mo, as if attracted by candy, kept babbling and reaching out to the other side. Seeing this, Shen Jue hugged him and took a look.

It wasn’t a very long distance, but now Shen Jue was five or six meters away from Shao Ge.

Shao Ge looked at the father and son who were looking at the candies; he couldn’t help but smile a little. All three of them seemed to like candies; even though Mo Mo couldn’t eat them, they, as adults, could still eat them.

While Shao Ge was looking at Shen Jue, suddenly he seemed to catch a glimpse of a bright light, like a light shining on the surface of a knife and refracting the light.

He paused for a moment and immediately looked at the bright light. He saw a man dressed in all black holding a fruit knife rushing towards Shen Jue, who had his back turned this way.

Shao Ge’s pupils dilated, and he immediately rushed over.

“Shen Jue, dodge!”

……

When Shen Jue heard the voice, he slowed down half a beat before turning his head back, he had been distracted by Mo Mo was grabbing his finger and chewing on it, he quickly ripped it out.

By the time he turned back, he’d seen Shao Ge’s face.

Shao Ge’s expression seemed a bit frozen as he watched Shen Jue look back and blink slowly.

“Ah!”

“Mur-der!”

Screams erupted from the surroundings, and the man standing behind Shao Ge took several steps back when he heard these noises, and the bloo-died knife in his hand even fell to the ground with a loud clang.

Mo Mo, at first, was still stupidly staring at Shao Ge, and then when he saw Shao Ge helplessly kneeling on the ground, he suddenly cried.

He cried at the top of his lungs, crying so hard that it was heartbreaking.

Shen Jue’s eyes naturally saw the blo-ody knife on the ground and Shao Ge’s hand covering his back waist. He paused before squatting down. “Shao Ge, you…” he reached out, touched Shao Ge’s back waist, then brought it back to see. His hand was full of blo-od.

Shao Ge seemed to have been stabbed in the kidney; the blo-od flowed especially fast, and even if Shen Jue tried to block it, blo-od still kept coming out.

Mo Mo was put on the ground to sit, obviously too young to know what was going on, but he was still crying and crawling towards Shao Ge.

Shao Ge’s face quickly turned white. He looked at Mo Mo, who was going to crawl towards him, and smiled for a while before he said to the enthusiastic passerby who wanted to help next to him, “You can pick him up; the ground is cool; I’m afraid he’ll catch a cold.” After a pause, he added, “It would be better if you could cover his eyes; this scene is too blo-ody; I’m afraid it’ll scare him.”

He finished then looked at Shen Jue, who had already taken his own shirt off to help Shao Ge cover his wound, but the blo-od was rapidly staining it red.

How could a person bleed that fast?

“Don’t bother, Shen Jue.” Shao Ge’s voice had weakened. He reached out and grabbed Shen Jue’s hand, forcing the other to interlock his fingers with his before he smiled in satisfaction. “I can’t afford to live with you any longer; you and Mo Mo have to be good. After three months, you can find someone else, but that person has to not be as handsome as I am or I’ll be jealous.”

His body shook a little as he spoke, like a cold shiver caused by the heavy bleeding in his body.

“I’ll take you to a doctor.” Shen Jue picked Shao Ge up from the ground, but only a few steps in, he realized that the world was starting to dissipate.

The first to dissipate were the people standing in the outermost circle of onlookers; the second to disappear were their faces with expressions of shock and panic; and finally, the entire population began to disappear.

Shen Jue’s footsteps stopped.

He was the only one who realized that the world was dissipating, and even Shao Ge didn’t notice.

Shao Ge lay in his arms, still rambling, “Remember to eat breakfast in the future; don’t be lazy and not eat it; fruits should be eaten as well; and remember to dry your body when you take a bath; don’t try to save yourself the trouble by just getting dressed.”

Speaking later, as if he couldn’t think of what to say, he just looked at Shen Jue, his eyes focused, and finally the corners of his lips curled up. “Make sure you forget about me; you have to live a good life and live happily.”

He raised his hand as if he wanted to touch Shen Jue’s brow, but it hung down before he could touch it.

Mo Mo’s cries were gone because they were gone.

Shen Jue looked around, then looked at the person in his arms. His expression was a bit stunned. He didn’t make a move to ki-ll Shao Ge, but this realm started to dissipate. Shao Ge just blocked a knife for him. Was this considered a broken realm?

Finally, even Shao Ge began to dissipate, first his feet, then his legs, little by little. Shen Jue stayed standing, saying and doing nothing.

The world turned into nothingness.

……

“Shen Jue, I don’t want your love anymore; I want you to remember me for the rest of your life.”

“Be sure to forget me; you have to live well and live happily.”
