Chapter Index

Soon, MoMo was three months old; he gradually grew, and he started to giggle when he was teased.

When Shao Ge took Mo Mo out for a walk, he would run into people he knew, and when they saw Mo Mo, they would exclaim, “This kid is so pretty, but he doesn’t look much like you; doesn’t he look more like his other father?”

They were talking about Shen Jue; they all knew that Shao Ge was with a man who had a child.

Some of them found it strange because Shen Jue was eight months pregnant before appearing next to Shao Ge, and they hadn’t seen Shen Jue before. There were even people who didn’t want the two to be together, secretly slipping letters into the doorway of their residence.

“Shao Ge, do you really think this child is yours? Maybe it’s a child he got from playing around outside; he doesn’t look anything like you.”

He didn’t look like him.

Too many people told Shao Ge that this child didn’t look like him, and Shao Ge, who originally didn’t think much about it, felt a little uncomfortable. He stared at Mo Mo. What could he see in a baby that was only a few months old? The baby had a round face, round eyes, a small nose and a small mouth.

But if he looked closely, he could also see something.

Shao Ge had a standard melon seed face, slightly raised phoenix eyes, and upturned lips, while this child seemed more like Shen Jue, with no facial features that resembled him. That was okay; it was normal for a child to only look like one of the fathers, but Mo Mo had diamond-shaped lips.

Those were Ji Yao’s lips.

Why was it that this child didn’t resemble him at all but had a resemblance to Ji Yao?

In fact, Ji Yao’s obsession with Shen Jue had always baffled Shao Ge; he didn’t understand why Ji Yao would go through all the trouble of snatching both Shen Jue and the child away. If he liked Shen Jue, there was no need to care about the child, but Ji Yao snatched both and even named the child Lele.

The day Ji Yao died, he asked the nurse to help change Lele’s clothes because he wanted to learn how to dress him, and as he changed the blo-odstains clothes, he saw a few words.

The words were embroidered on the sleeve, with two words on each side.

On the left side were the words “baby,” and on the right side were the words “joy.”.

Mo Mo was obviously his child, but Ji Yao called him baby Lele, as if Mo Mo were his child.

Reason told Shao Ge not to think too much, so he could only suppress his discomfort. He believed that the person Shen Jue liked was him and that Mo Mo was his son.

But this suppressed emotion exploded one day.

That day he was cooking in the kitchen while Shen Jue was helping MoMo take a bath. After his meal was done, the father and son hadn’t come out of the bathroom yet, so he couldn’t help but go over to urge them on, but as a result, just as he reached the bathroom door, he heard Shen Jue’s voice.

“Little Lele, whose little Lele are you?”

Lele?

Shao Ge directly opened the bathroom door. Shen Jue heard the noise, turned back, saw it was Shao Ge, and frowned. “Why did you suddenly open the door? Mo Mo is undressed; he’ll get sick easily if the wind touches him.”

“What did you just call him?” Shao Ge walked in and closed the door backhandedly, some anger on his face.

“Mo Mo, what else could I have called him?” Shen Jue seemed to think Shao Ge was acting strange. “What’s wrong with you? You’re asking such strange questions.”

Shao Ge took a long breath upon hearing these words, rubbed his forehead with his hand, and withdrew the anger from his face. After a while, he finally spoke, “Maybe I misheard.”

“Don’t you dare just rush in like that next time; Mo Mo is prone to getting sick and scared by you.” Shen Jue said it with a sullen face.

Shao Ge nodded with some disorientation and turned to walk out.

He clearly heard “Lele.”  Could it be that he misheard?

But could he ask this question? Ji Yao was a shadow to him, but to Shen Jue, it should be even more so.

He remembered the first time he helped Shen Jue take a bath at the base in M City. Shen Jue was clearly in bad shape. Shen Jue should be as disgusted with Ji Yao as he was.

In the next three or four months, Shao Ge still received those anonymous letters; the content of those letters was written very viciously; Shen Jue became a sl-ut under the writer’s pen; and even the writer swore that Mo Mo could never be Shao Ge’s child and that they didn’t want to see Shao Ge become a big cuckold while still raising a child for someone else.

Every time Shao Ge saw those letters, he would destroy them himself; he didn’t want Shen Jue to see them, lest the other party feel bad, but one day Shen Jue saw them and even threw that kind of letter in front of Shao Ge: “It was written by your fan.”

Shao Ge threw the letter directly into the rubbish bin and stepped forward to hug Shen Jue. “They just still can’t accept the fact that we’re together; it’ll be fine after a while.”

Shen Jue pursed his lips and didn’t say anything; his expression was sullen.

Shao Ge saw this and sighed slightly. “We’re both celebrities; aren’t you clear on how irrational some of our fans are? As long as our family of three lives well, it’s fine.”

Shen Jue lifted his eyes to look at Shao Ge. “Then do you believe what they wrote in the letter?”

“I don’t believe it.” Shao Ge answered quickly.

Hearing such an answer, Shen Jue’s expression seemed to ease a bit. He was silent for a moment, raised his hand, and hugged Shao Ge back, his voice muffled. “I’ve only had s-ex with you; you have to believe me.”

Shao Ge should have believed it, but in that moment, his mind flashed with the countless photos of Shen Jue, Shen Jue himself, Shen Jue and Ji Yao, and even Shen Jue and someone he didn’t know.

His brows furrowed, and he could only do his best to push that one photo out of his mind.

Most men had no concept of chastity. This was something Shao Ge knew; there was nothing wrong with Shen Jue letting another man touch him in order to stay alive; after all, he was the one who had refused first.

But he couldn’t help but think, Did Shen Jue really like him? If he liked him, why could he turn his head to another man if he refused? But if he didn’t like him, why did he look for him?

Could it be that it was just that he was a good candidate?

……

At night, when Shen Jue moved Mo Mo’s cot to the living room, Shao Ge froze for a moment. “If Mo Mo sleeps outside, what if we can’t hear him cry?”

“I’ll move him back later.” Shen Jue had just finished his bath, and his body was smelling of shower gel. The shower gel had recently changed its scent to a somewhat cloying rose scent.

His pajamas were pure white and somewhat see-through, with a large round neckline that allowed him to be glimpsed at by others as long as he bent down.

But Shen Jue was oblivious, bending over to make up the bed before sitting down on it. He raised his eyes to look at Shao Ge, who was standing on the other side of the bed, and blinked. “Aren’t you coming up yet?”

The atmosphere tonight was strange; Mo Mo had never slept in the living room since he picked them up. Shao Ge wasn’t a fool, and he was instantly reminded of something by the atmosphere.

Shen Jue’s physique…

He hesitated before climbing into bed, glancing at Shen Jue next to him and lowering his voice. “Even after having a child, that physique still won’t change?”

“Hmm.” Shen Jue nodded, then twisted his face away again. He seemed a little worse for wear. “Annoying, why did it have to be me with this physique?”

Shao Ge pursed his lips, stepped forward, and gently wrapped his arm around Shen Jue’s shoulders. “It’s okay, I’m here.”

Shen Jue seemed to stiffen for a moment before slowly turning his head and smiling at Shao Ge. When Shao Ge saw that smile, he paused before leaning over and kissing Shen Jue.

He was very gentle with the other man’s lips, trying desperately not to give the other man a feeling of pressure, but Shen Jue only let him kiss him for a moment before avoiding it.

“Let’s do it straight away, before Mo Mo wakes up later.” Shen Jue said this with his head down.

Shao Ge’s hand at Shen Jue’s shoulder quietly loosened as he squeezed out a smile and whispered, “Okay.”

The whole time there was no talking, not even eye contact. Shen Jue turned his head and stared at the desk lamp on the bedside table, his eyebrows furrowed tightly as if he had been enduring. His hand even tightened around the bedsheet beneath him.

As for Shao Ge, he first stared at Shen Jue, but when he saw that the other party hadn’t been looking at him, he also moved his eyes away, and he stared at the bed pattern directly in front of him, thinking that it was quite pretty and more interesting than looking at the reluctant face of the person underneath him.

In this moment, Shao Ge realized that life was nothing but wind and flowers. He didn’t know if the original him had overlooked this or if the two of them had changed now.

The original Shen Jue didn’t frown the entire time like he did now, and the fast and low gasps in his ear showed he was lost in the moment, but now all that was left was stiff patience.

He was like a fish, helplessly nailed to the chopping block, taking slash after slash that disgusted him. As this executioner, Shao Ge was very uncomfortable. He thought that Shen Jue and him at least loved each other; after all, the child was there, but when Shen Jue did this with him, his look and body language were filled with reluctance.

Why was he still with him if he wasn’t willing? Was it possible that he was just a free massage stick?

It was clear that every time it was Shen Jue who took the initiative, but in the end, it was as if he was forcing the other party.

Was this ra+pe?

Shao Ge stopped violently.

He closed his eyes and immediately backed away, got up, and went to the bathroom to take a shower, and after a long time, he came out of it without looking at Shen Jue on the bed. He grabbed a set of clothes from the wardrobe and put them on, hurriedly dropping a sentence before leaving.

“I have something to do.”

The M-city base had a complete infrastructure and a 24-hour convenience store. Shao Ge went there and bought a packet of cigarettes, so he walked over to the smoking area and lit up.

It was already two o’clock late at night, and there were no more people on the road. Shao Ge came out in a hurry and didn’t even wear a hat; his flawless face was directly exposed to the dim light.

Smoke covered his slightly melancholic brows, and darkness shrouded his eyes. He exhaled a smoke ring into the darkened midair, snorting softly as he watched it gather and then slowly dissipate.

“Don’t smoke this late, alright? It’s not good for your body.”

A male voice suddenly came from behind him.

Shen Jue?

Shao Ge immediately turned back, only to realize that he had misheard the voice; it wasn’t Shen Jue; it was the convenience store clerk from the mart.

It looked like he was in college, very young, with a youthful aura all over.

When the shop assistant saw Shao Ge’s eyes looking over, his breath couldn’t help but catch, but he still forced himself to hand the item over. “Candy? I think candy is more likely to put people in a good mood.”

Shao Ge lowered his eyes and looked at the candy on the clerk’s fingertips. It was a kind of candy he loved, peach-flavored.

“Don’t you eat this flavor? I have other flavors; wait.” The shopkeeper said that and ran away again. After a while, he brought over a handful of candies.

He unfolded his palm at Shao Ge; it was piled with sugar; the nervous smile on his face couldn’t be hidden; his eyes were even filled with careful curiosity. “Is there anything here you like?”
